Those engine trails...
I dont know why, but I feel that it doesnt fit there.
I know what you mean and I fear the screenshot doesn't do them justice... they look way better in motion.
I already tried it without engine trails and while that works okay for capital ships, it makes fighters practically invisible. When being zoomed out, most fighters and bombers get reduced to a single pixel, which is unsurprisingly very hard to spot in front of a few thousand stars and background nebulas. The trails make them much much easier to spot and also help to visualize their movement direction ...
Without trails you'd quickly lose track of where your own and the enemy's fighters currently are and what they're doing. I don't intend to unnecessarily frustrate the player in such a way.

seraphin fighters, right? heavy fighters, I mean. In packs those were quite a threat... Again, incredible work. I'd have to make some missions for this mod when it's released...
Seraphims were bombers, those are Manticores (seen in the FS1 intro, for example) - pretty fast and agile, but also fragile and only lightly armed.
WOW a new and improved Cain cruiser, I envy you ^^
this new model looks interesting cant wait to see it in this mod and also in the scp project :)
