Forgotten Hope Secret Weapon (FHSW) is an unofficial continuation of the famous Forgotten Hope (FH), a Battlefield 1942 modification. We say unofficial since FHSW is developed by FH fans, not the original FH creators. In 2007 it started as a small addon but since then it has grown to be one of the biggest mods of all time! What makes this mod special is that it adds lots of - but not only - Secret Weapons which saw limited or no action at all during WW2 like jet fighters and super heavy tanks. Some of the maps feature "what-if" battles like a landing operation on the Japanese mainland or attacking a secret German base in the African desert.

Since there haven't been any offical news for a long time, I decided to give you guys a little update on community stuff.

Posted by eYe.ris on Aug 2nd, 2013

It has been fairly quiet on the FHSW news front lately but I can guarantee you that the devs are still hard at work. I want to use this opportunity to give you some news and information about what’s going on around the mod these days.

FHSW wiki

(click on the picture to visit the wiki)

For over a year now we have had an active wiki page which contains tons of information about almost every vehicle and map in the game. If you want to see one of the ~700 different vehicles in this mod hover over "FHSW Equipment" at the top of the page and choose a country.

The main contributors of the wiki are Fritz Kempf and RADIOSMERSH, big thanks to these two for their time and work! Of course you're encouraged to join them, if you see an error go ahead and correct it, pages can be edited by everyone.

Official News source

As you probably know by now this moddb page is entirely managed by fans of the mod not the actual devs who are from Japan. You can find the offical news on this blog: We simply "translate" them for moddb. Some of the devs post on twitter, you can follow them there if you like, again it's only in Japanese though.

FHSW Forum

If you want to discuss the game, the latest news or have any questions you are welcome to join the FHSW Europe forum which is fairly active considering the relatively small community. I'll link a couple of really interesting threads for you:

  • WIP pictures of models which might be in a future update: Link

  • How to install the Sound & Texture Pack which makes the game a lot more immersive: Link
  • Interesting FHSW facts and gameplay tips: Link

FHSW Gaming Events

It’s true that this mod doesn’t have that many players outside of Japan and you definitely won’t see much action by joining randomly during the day. To counter this the FHSW Europe Community, the only FHSW server outside of Japan, hosts weekly Gaming Events where the community gathers up to play some great rounds of FHSW. The map list is fixed and gets published on the front page a couple of days prior to the event. You don’t have to be a member of FHSW Europe or sign up for it, just join and have fun.

Events usually take place on Sundays sometimes Saturdays, starting time is always at

20:00 - 8 pm Central Europe
21:00 - 9 pm Eastern Europe
19:00 - 7 pm BST Britain
15:00 - 3 pm Buenos Aires
14:00 - 2 pm East Coast USA
01:00 - 1 am Central USA
11:00 - 11 am Pacific USA

Just as a reminder, the server can be joined by CD and Origin users.

Here’s a video to get an impression what these events look like:

That’s all for now, I hope you enjoyed this little summary, if you like we’ll see us on the server.

So sad that these big project mods don't get the sessions they deserve for now, this demands more servers!

I'm being realistic: It's very unlikely for such an old game let alone a mod to have full servers all the time. I'm quite happy that we have 20+ players every weekend on the server, it's enough for some fun rounds as you can hopefully see in the video. But of course it would be super awesome to have more.

We welcome new players very friendly and are just a casual group of FHSW lovers, so you don't have to be shy guys. :)

With low player numbers every player really helps, for example I can tell from experience that it makes a huge difference if there are 20 or 30 on the server.

So FHSW is still going on? I think you guys should help FH2 devs to speed up the development.

i think it's so dumb that you need FH too, to install this mod. this all requires soo much space for 1 mod!!

FH+FHSW together are a bit over 7 GB, it's a lot but you also get huge amounts of vehicles and maps. But almost every game nowadays uses more space, BF3 without any DLC for example requires 20 GB! That should be the smallest problem.

But I agree that a single download would definitely be better to at least make the installation easier.

FHSW devs told us, that they find a solution for this problem and loading times will descrease significantly in 0.55

Sure, v0.55 is on its way. Check out the news, everything newer than "FHSW 0.51 released!" will be in the next update:
