As the Battle on Installation 04 rages on between the Covenant and UNSC forces, an evil so terrible lies silently in slumber. In the pursuit of knowledge and power, the Covenant unleash a force that even they fear. As Containment Facilities across Alpha Halo are breached, one in particular is at the forefront of this. On a lone island in the middle of Installation 04's many seas, a facility unlike the others contains something that will make the Flood thousands of times more formidable to combat. A Gravemind lies dormant deep inside the recesses of this vault. The Battle for Installation 04 is about to reach its pinnacle.

News post about Grunt Dismemberment first showed off in our trailer.

Posted by LoneWarrior on Aug 24th, 2011

A week later, another content update. This time, it's our dismemberable grunts first shown off in our teaser trailer.

A long time ago, someone asked me how we were going to keep the horror feel of the Flood in our mod, as playing as the monster isn't that scary. I replied, we were going to make things more sinister and gruesome. This was one of the things on our list to make the mod more gruesome. Fully dismemberable Grunts. This means that arms/legs and head can be blown off.

Here is a before and after picture of a dismembered grunt:

As in the trailer, destroying limbs is not only possible when the enemy is already dead, but also during battle. A close-range shotgun blast to the head will most likely sever it, and some sustained fire to other body parts may also produce a similar effect.

Here is a short video showing what's possible with our dismemberable grunts:

Also available on Youtube.

Next week, we show off our new Flood Carrier variations. Stay tuned!

That's something the original game needed some work on, glad you did it in your mod.

Actually, the original game was going to include dismemberable grunts, at least to the point where you could shoot their heads off, but it was not implemented before release.
Also, we hope to include more content cut from the original halo.

Just grunts for now. We figured they were the only ones 'squishy' enough for dismemberment.

What about a shotgun to the face? Could that blow any head off?
