Someone from the PUA mod discord made an installation guide video for the Pirates Uber Alles mod for ETW. Hopefully this would help a lot of people who are having a hard time installing the mod :)

In addition, the default settings are the recommended settings of the devs. Only change the launcher settings if you know what you want to change in the mod to your liking.

Installation looks complicated because of the translation but it's actually very simple. For english speakers, here's a summary for the steps for installation:
1. Uninstall Empire TW and delete the Empire TW folder and the scripts folder in appdata (to remove all residual files from previous mods). The scripts folder to be deleted would be located in something like this
C:\Users\"your pc name"\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire TW\scripts
This is important since a lot of mods modify the userscript located in the scripts folder.
Then reinstall Empire TW, launch the game and start a campaign, then exit the game.
2. Extract the folder from the archive.
3. Open that folder, copy all contents and paste in Empire TW folder.
4. Go to Empire TW folder - data - Pirates - then click on the launcher to launch the PUA mod launcher (run as administrator), then click on "PUA-settings" to set the configuration for the mod. This is an important step whether you'll customize the settings or not.
5. Launch the game using the launcher by clicking on one of the campaigns. You can actually launch the game using the Empire TW shortcut, it would launch the game with the default mod settings (No VDM, classic Empire TW map, 1700 start date).
6. The Desktop Fix file from moddb is for the patches. Only the Patch-Fix-Desktop is essential. The other two files are submods which cannot both be installed together at the same time.
Here's a summary of the campaign options in PUA:
1700 CL - classic Empire tw map
1772 CL - classic Empire tw map with a later start date
1700 L biM - extended map similar to Imperial Destroyer
1700 LE biM - extended map but with more historical starting conditions
1703 biM - extended map with even more historical starting conditions based on the Great Northern War and the War of the Spanish Succession
For the campaigns with specific factions in their name, it is designed to be more challenging for the player to play as those factions.
You can take a look at the buttons guide in the launcher. It takes time to fully understand all the options but it's worth it. It's an awesome launcher.

Ive tried starting a campaign with the fix desktop patch and yet it will crash on startup after 6 seconds, dont know what the issue is.
There are no other ways except to clean everything and reinstall it, following every letter of the instructions.

Mod looks awesome, i installed it on a clean Empire game, but there is a bug. When i click on the end turn or press enter, nothing happens. Tried a couple of campaings and all the same.
I launched the game from the pirates launcher and clicked the VDM button first before i start the campaign. Can you help me?
Yes I can. - Do not press the VDM button)). Or - if you click, then read carefully how to use it. Everything is described in the instructions opened using the launcher buttons. Most likely, you have not closed all event messages - read about this in the instructions.
Flaviuss the effects sound does not work properly for me i cannot hear the sound of gunshots or characters speaking etc, when starting a new campaign it works fine in the beginning but after a while it stopped working. you know how i can fix this?
Hello. I don't have that effect. But - possible actions:
Reload the game.
Try using a different sound set offered in the launcher. Or - proposed in submods outside the launcher.
Try changing the sound settings in the game itself.
Try updating the system drivers.
I'm not sure what the problem is. But my settings aren't getting saved after I exit the game. I don't have to click the "PUA-settings" then click the campaign every time I want to play right?
Right. To ensure that the settings are not lost, you can find the text file preferences.empire_script.txt along the path C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts. Go to its properties and check the “read only” box in the attributes. After this, the file will not change, and accordingly the settings will not be lost.

This file is installed automatically. If you damaged it or it somehow fell off, then press the button in the launcher - PUA settings and it will be restored.
"WinRar doesnt have enough space on disk to extract file" I literally downloaded it on a 4tb hard drive with 300 gb about left.
When extracting, the archiver first loads everything onto the system disk - temporary files. Therefore, there should also be 40 GB free.

I guess the ETW-PUA-steam is different than the original tutorial because the steam download doesn't have 3 parts?

Right. The videos are becoming outdated - once there were three parts, now there is one. But it's big.
Probably the 3 part one was to complicated for most anyway, better with newest version.
I have noticed that once I exit out of game and try to launch a new Campaign the launcher won't work, I have to close launcher and launch again, seems it's the 1700 LE bim and the 1700 LE Campaigns that crash.
I'll check to see if I can even launch an 1700 LE bim Campaign tonight, the 1700 L bim Campaigns seem to work fine.
Edit: Some parts of VDM are in Russian like control points.
To translate VD M more into English, after opening the launcher, click on “English” again.
All campaigns are working fine. Just take a closer look at the description. And don’t play with VD M until you get acquainted with the mod without it. If you have any questions, write to comrade CheriSh21. He will help.
My computer isn't strong enough to run VDM anyway the turn times take forever so I normally play without it, clicked english and VDM and launched one of the bim Campaigns and the VDM control point and the one below control points was both in Russian, all of the popups and everything else was in English just on the policy page it was in Russian, no big deal I don't play VDM anyway.
I like the AD General models on campaign map and battle map which match each other, is there anyway to make a mod like that in this game, would be pretty cool.

I checked - launched the launcher, clicked “English” again, clicked VD M, clicked campaign, yes - a couple of words in Russian remained in the policy window, but this is a completely trivial matter. VDM control point - I didn’t find this one. But - it probably doesn’t matter, there’s probably also a couple of words there... I would also recommend installing the old EXE version. The new one, after the update, also kills some words.

hello flavius in the latest version of the mod vdm is not working i have tried couple of different nations and timelines but whenever i treid to end the turn 1 it is crashing hope you can fix it on coming updates :)

I checked. VD M launched, launched the campaign, ran the course. Everything is fine. The updates had no effect. But I didn’t have old campaigns with VD M. Maybe the continuation of the campaign has problems... I can’t test this.
Can i ask how much GB on disk space does this mod require ? Empire 2 mod require so much GB and it anoying me very much
PUA requires a little over 33 GB. Preferably a little more.

I can only tell you how it is for me.
Sometimes Steam, with its stores and advertising, reduces the game and the launcher down. I close the stores, expand the minimized launcher and repeat the click on the selected campaign. That's all. I don't have any other problems.
Black plates are mentioned in the description. You cannot touch them until the end of the game.
If this is not the case for you, then write to Discord. There are more players there - maybe they can tell you what’s wrong.

Thank you. There are submods that are not compatible and then one cancels the other. For example, smoke. But for example, any smoke is compatible with sound submods. In tactics, the light ones replace each other, and the dark ones - no matter how hard you press, they will all be there. Just remember what you clicked.

when I click on "For USA (13col) 1772 CL" the game ist starting automatically, everything works fine. But the campaign still starts at 1700. What can I do, to start at 1772?
