Fallout: New California adds an all new story around a new player character, an adopted resident of Vault 18, embarking on a journey through the wastelands of the New California Republic's Cajon Pass. An unofficial prequel to New Vegas, FPB adds hours of new gameplay and a fully voiced stand alone campaign.

Showing off the new Hi-Resolution Vault textures that will get us up to par with Fallout 4, and brand new graffiti & fan art.

While technically we're still on break until January, we've made a little progress on our cheat days while I work to enhance Vault 18 and get it ready for a the big release early in 2016, while RickerHK and Seddon script the last Main Quest, and Mark, Quin, Thomas, Takashi and I master audio files.

While I wait for our programmers to script the Main Quest, I've managed to convert all of the old Fallout 3 Vault textures from shit 512 pixel resolution, up to 4098 and 2098 ultra and high resolution textures. That includes freshly sculpted normals, brand new PBR ready textures ready for use in Fallout 4, and a legacy copy for Fallout New Vegas so that while you play Project Brazil, you'll do it in HD glory.

Since our Vault 18 is essentially 75% brand new 3D modular assets, when the Fallout 4 GECK launches next year, I'll be able to release out new assets for the new generation of games.

We're not going to port Project Brazil to Fallout 4. Sorry.

While it'd be super cool to use all the new shaders and features(tm) inherent to Fallout 4, all the scripting we did and dialogue is 100% incompatible with Fallout 4. 100%. So while we CAN port our new armours, weapons, and meshes, we can't port the story. It's stuck on New Vegas forever.

That's why I've gone to such length upgrading our visual aspect. That, and I'm a visual artist. :p So as a team leader I need to stay busy while our coders work! XD It's good for morale.

As you can see, it's still a WIP in 3DsMax, but it is getting very close. We're at the trim detail and collion-mesh stage. After these are successfully swapped in for my white-boxes in GECK, it's done.

All of Vault 18's new art is based on the conceptual designs of Adam Adamowicz, who created a beautiful and wild vesrion of the Vault in Fallout 3. It's clear elements of Adam's work showed through in the Vaults, but these designs were just incredible. So expect to revisit several of these locations in the new Vault 18. Adam died of lung cancer in 2012, so this is my salute to him, an artist who really inspired me to rebuild our starting area with a fine level of detail like he had envisioned.

Another bit of cool news is that Takashi and Thomas managed to convert all of Kieva Nanjima's dialogue to Japanese, along with her Shi Guards who are already full voiced. You can hear a preview below!

Thanks to a reddit post last week, FPB shot up to the Number 1 slot on ModDB, and now we are currently in the Top 100 Mods of the Year. :D That's pretty cool for not having released part 2, and it's a small consolation to the team for being late on delivery.

We've been appearing in new articles and magazines all over the web for the past few months. When I'm ready to officially announce our release date and we're ready to launch, I'm sure that will make quite the splash. It won't be in time to win $30,000 this year, but maybe next year?

Next week I'll have an all new post to show off hopefully with a finished Vault 18 Atrium, and new news regarding our voice work, which as of today is about 65% cut.

You can read more about our progress on the Design Documents Found Here. In the mean time, you can keep track of us on ModDB, Fallout Nexus, or Facebook. We've got a thriving online community centred around each one.

Cheers

Project Leader

As far as I know, the mod isn't done by brazilians, and it's called Project Brazil because of the movie Brazil.
The mod não feito por brasileiros (?)

Project Brazil has a 3-Fold meaning:

1 - I was watching the 1985 Terri Gilliam movie Brazil when I first decided to make a mod in 2010 - long before I had a coherent story in mind.

2 - A nod to Black Isle Entertainment through the Irish myth of Brasil, a shadowy island off the coast that can be seen but never reached.

3 - In game, there is a list scheduled, A, B, C, D, E - using the name of countries as code words. Project Brazil is the most important of the Enclave Projects.
