Yea it's pretty harsh, but those Germans in the bunker are the ones responsible for mowing down 100's of American soldiers...

Shows the reality of war I suppose ..that's how you deal with bunkers. Besides a couple Germans ran out the bunker with guns in hand, I'm sure if they walked out with hands up Tom Hanks would've spared them.

they did mow down like thousands of your buddies, don't you think you'd act out your revenge against them too?

yeah but they didn't have much choice in the matter, they were given orders to defend the beach and they followed up on them, its still not right for them to die in such a horrific way, like jollyross said its the reality of war I suppose.

same for the allied, they couldn't take them prisoners, they had their objective to secure the beaches, so every man will have to keep moving to save more lives, if they did take them prisoners, where could they take them? the beach was still hectic, and they couldn't keep them there because like said, they needed to keep moving

To be honest guys, few , if not none of us lived the reality of war, we don't know what we'd become if we saw hundreds of our fellow comrades falling in front of us, some of them being your friends. I am including myself in this statement and that's why I prefer not to judge any of the two sides, the axis and the allies.

But you must understand that the Americans were pretty ****** off about the mowing of the 100's of Americans like DUB said, and if someone had killed your mate right in front of your face then tried to surrender would you show mercy?

And if that German escaped and had the tip of the gun at your head would he show mercy?

Thats what you have to think about. In war; its (kill or be killed). I'm not saying mowing down Germans was the best idea, I'd rather that there was no war at all.
