You were stationed in the Mental Telepathic Procedures Unit, where the Combine experimented on your mind, bending it to access normally unreachable areas. As the tests are concluding, and you are being taken to your execution chamber, the hidden lab is liberated by rebels of the uprising. You are taken back to Black Mesa East. Unfortunately, we all know how that story ends...
