Eras of the Mercenaries is intended to enhance the gameplay of Star Wars Empire at War: Forces of Corruption by adding in dozens of era specific units, heroes, GCs, and mercenaries. Units will range from the end of the Clone Wars to the Second Galactic Civil War (40aby).

If possible I would like to know the opinions of the mod's watchers on something.

Hi guys, I'm currently re-working the base coding of ETM for the new mini-mod, and I'd like to know what you guys would think of the complete removal of the Consortium as a faction? Every single one of their units would still be available for use by the Alliance and the Empire, but only in limited areas or as special units/heroes.

This would not only make my job easier as a modder, but it would improve the quality of the mod, allowing me to work on more canon material instead.

My plans for these units are the following

  • Skipray Blastboat - Empire - Class: Gunship
  • Starviper - Neutral - Class: Starfighter (Buildable with Mandal Hypernautics)
  • Aggressor SD (edited) - Empire - Class: Capital (Buildable with Maw Installation)
  • Keldabe Battleship - Neutral - Class: Capital (Buildable with Mandal Hypernautics)
  • Vengeance Frigate - Neutral - Class: Frigate (Buildable with Mandal Hypernautics)
  • Crusader Corvette - Neutral - Class: Corvette (Buildable with Mandal Hypernautics)
  • Interceptor IV - Neutral - Class: Corvette (Buildable with Pirate Space Station)
  • Canderous Assault Tank - Neutral - Class: Heavy Armor (Buildable with MandalMotors)
  • MAL - Alliance - Class: Artillery
  • F9-TZ - Neutral - Class: Troop Transport (Buildable with Baktoid Armor)
  • MZ-8 Mobile Cannon - Neutral - Class: Artillery (Buildable with Yutrane-Trackata)
  • Nightsisters - Empire - Class: Minor Hero (Buildable with Dathomiri Embassy)
  • Defiler - Neutral - Class: Minor Hero (Buildable with Mandalorian Embassy)
  • Vornskyr - Neutral - Class: Animal (Buildable on Myrkr)
  • Mercenary - Neutral - Class: Infantry (Buildable with Cantina)
  • Droideka Mk. II - Neutral - Class: Light Vehicle (Buildable with Baktoid Armor)
  • Ewok Handler - Empire - Class: Minor Hero (Buildable with Endor Embassy)

Never liked that faction. Go ahead and get rid of them! Your suggestions will make it more interesting anyway.

I agree i hated sabotages they corrupted me and sent fleets there and they taking my space station by using bribes and stuff.Get rid of them and its good how your keeping the units keep up the good work :).

If the Consortium does make a comeback at some point in the future, Corruption will be removed and it will behave similar to the Alliance in playing style. As of right now though, Consortium will be disabled and all of its heroes and units made available to other factions.

The Consortium as faction with Tyber Zann as Leader wouldn't fit it in the modification I think, some kind of an Underworld faction would. Maybe you can work on something like this in future, but I think for now you can focus on the diversity of Empire and the Alliance.

More canonical material is great, but don't hesitate to do your work on those great fanon or semi-canon stuff as you did in the past. It looked great!

I see the problem and to remove Corruption is the best way to do. It would be cool to see a Mercenary faction as some kind of neutral faction where you can buy mercenaries and bounty hunters. Maybe you could use the black market ability from the Defiler for Alliance and Empire, so they can hire specific units only on specific planets. Just a suggestion, I don't know if this is possible.
The problem with Underworld factions is that they are more or less a bunch of pirates, criminals and some corrupt politicians, they would never overrun the whole galaxy.
A non-playable faction will be sufficient and you can specify on Empire and Alliance and possible sub-factions of them.

I like the neutral faction idea. I know the Corporate Sector has been done before, but only once, so it'd fit perfectly as some type of "generic" faction that builds its fleet using technology from other factions instead of their own.... so that's a possibility.

Those two have already been done by the Thrawn's Revenge team, probably at a quality that this mod will never reach.
