The Enduring Freedom project is aiming to bring realistic combat simulation to the GEM 2 engine and is focused on the units involved in the initial coalition combat ops during Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan (Special Forces, 10th Mountain Div, and 101st Airborne). Conventional warfare will be presented as well. Project features and info can be located in the news section.

Early smoke test of m224 smoke round (m302). Color of smoke to be tweaked and several other factors... With a couple dozen of these rounds you can fill a map up pretty quickly with cover smoke. Same method used to produce this smoke round will be used for vehicle smoke deployment as well.

Wilson in this screenshot I can see the grass has not dissappeared even at the furthest distance, i.e to the very right of the picture. Have you changed any setting to enable this as grass seems to disappear quickly when I scroll out.

Cheers,
Sturm.

This grass does not fade. It is an entity, which conforms to the terrain.

Ahh ok, is it a custom entity or is it in the game already?

I think I once tried to do this with grass but the results where not great due to the alpha channel used in the grass texture causing strange shaowing not to mention huge impact on performance.

I like it! The smoke seems to cover a lot of ground

Thats because I launched 3-5 rounds:D Don't worry though, the FX work I am planning on doing will remedy this to provide larger FX true to life. Burning smoke will be MUCH taller and the lifetime will be much longer. Using youtube videos from Iraq and Afghanistan, I aim to bring realism in size and lifetime to most FX.
