PSX DOOM and DOOM 64 total conversions for GZDoom, overhauled. This mod builds on the existing total conversions of PlayStation DOOM and DOOM 64 for GZDoom, PSX DOOM TC and DOOM 64 Retribution, to take advantage of the latest GZDoom versions and add many features that make them more faithful but were impossible to implement at their time of release. To achieve this, a large amount of the code has been adapted from GEC Master Edition (also known as DZDoom), while looking at the reverse engineered code and existing source ports of these games for reference. In addition to that, the mod is highly modular and contains many *optional* "enhancements" that deviate from the original experience. Depending on your preference, you can choose to play as close to vanilla as possible, or experiment and play with upscaled textures, PBR materials, flashy particle effects and other features that are common in other GZDoom mods.

Description

Contains PSX DOOM CE with PBR materials, new sounds and more. Requires DOOM2.WAD (see prerequisites instructions below). Comes bundled with GZDoom 4.11.3 for convenience, but you can use an existing installation of it. Read the readme for more details.

I don't have an Android phone so I've never set it up, but I've read others have. In this thread the author of Delta Touch gives some instructions for d64 ce, it should be similar for psx ce: Doomworld.com

Did the cool water effects get removed? Those were my favourite parts of PSX DOOM series haha

I didn't remove any water effects, can you be more specific?

Thanks for quick response! Yea it's the animated water/fluid, it's not working in this version, at least not for me, last one I tried was 3.6.2 I think that had the animated water

I noticed when I updated to the latest GZDoom even on the old version the fluid animation didn't work either

Drive.google.com

^screenshot of the effect in 3.6.2

Water is animating fine to me. You might be messing up the load order, e.g loading doom2.wad after this mod (it should not be loaded)

OK I will check it out thanks, I don't think I am, but will still check, I load the .wad that is just PSX Doom in the menu selection

OK I see now, I get what you mean, the water is animating, but it looks different from before, it's less "wavy", I don't really know how to make a gif but it looks more like its swapping between two images, whereas before it was more "wavy" or "flowing" it's hard to describe haha, it's like it doesn't have the depth illusion anymore I think

I checked in the console, it seems like yea Doom2.wad is loading before the pk3 for the mod, but is there a way to change this? My doom2.wad is found automatically I think by GZdoom, can't find a way to change this lol

That's fine, it should load before but not after. The smooth water animation comes from the file called psxdoom.ce.addon.gfx.extra.pk3, perhaps it's not loading?

I checked on both versions just to see, 3.6.2 when I hit console, it lists DOOM2.wad before the .pk3 files in the load order, and I can see the addon.gfx.extra.pk3 being loaded also in the console

The same order is also on 3.8.2, so I cannot find the difference at all why it is different for me either

I did notice that between 3.6.2, and 3.8.2 though that the end level smear effect is working much better though, it doesn't have a blue frame for an instant at the start when the shader comes down lol

I haven't found a way to change the load order though, any ideas?

Edit - I actually noticed the widescreen is not working (all the enemies look "wide", neither is the specular mapping either, and I have set all the same settings as my previous installation 3.6.2 also, so 3.8.2 seemingly loading none of the .pk3 that the previous version is doing without any problems

Comparisons-
3.6.2 fluid effect working Drive.google.com

3.6.2 widescreen working Drive.google.com

3.8.2 fluid effect not working Drive.google.com

3.8.2 widescreen not working, specular and other lighting not working either Drive.google.com

This is with installing the same way on both, never had an issue with previous installs of PSX Doom CE

Seemingly none of the new .pk3 are loading for me I guess, even the floor textures are not loading the higher quality textures

Indeed it looks like none of the addons are getting loaded. When you open up the console on 3.8.2, do you see this at the start (with different relative paths)?

adding ../iwads/DOOM2.WAD, 2919 lumps
adding ../iwads/PSXDOOM.CE.ipk3, 8352 lumps
adding ../iwads/PSXDOOM.CE.ipk3:pla2.wad, 54 lumps
adding ../iwads/PSXDOOM.CE.ipk3:pla3.wad, 54 lumps
adding ../iwads/PSXDOOM.CE.ipk3:pla4.wad, 54 lumps
adding ../iwads/PSXDOOM.CE.ipk3:pla5.wad, 54 lumps
adding ../iwads/PSXDOOM.CE.Addon.BGM.Extended.pk3, 42 lumps
adding ../iwads/PSXDOOM.CE.Addon.SFX.HQ.pk3, 135 lumps
adding ../iwads/PSXDOOM.CE.Addon.GFX.Extra.pk3, 5 lumps
adding ../iwads/PSXDOOM.CE.Addon.GFX.Decals.pk3, 3 lumps
adding ../iwads/PSXDOOM.CE.Addon.GFX.Brightmaps.pk3, 2552 lumps
adding ../iwads/PSXDOOM.CE.Addon.GFX.PBR.pk3, 8848 lumps
adding ../iwads/PSXDOOM.CE.Addon.GFX.Parallax.pk3, 2329 lumps
adding ../iwads/PSXDOOM.CE.Addon.GFX.Upscale.pk3, 7304 lumps
adding ../iwads/PSXDOOM.CE.Maps.LostLevels.pk3, 21 lumps

if it's not loading them it should say something like "Can't find xxxx.pk3"

It looks like the 3.8.2 package for PSX DOOM CE is missing the upscale package, I replaced it with an old version from 3.7.1, but it did not fix it (I noticed that file was about 250 mb smaller than the previous downloads)

I uploaded that it is seeing all the above without missing packages, still the same issues with graphics

Console showing it is loading all the above Drive.google.com

This is very puzzling. It's hard to tell from the screenshot but it seems like now the high quality textures are there, so is that working at least?

I really don't have an answer either, only thing I can tell is the packages of 3.8.0 to 3.8.2 are different and missing one package each, and neither of these work by just extracting, even the custom audio is not working at all, so nothing is loading basically

I can go back to 3.6.2 or 3.7.1 I tried as well, and everything works on the first attempt every time with no issues, I can't really think of anything but there being something wrong with the 3.8.0 and up package versions

The upscale addon was intentionally removed on 3.8+ (as mentioned in the change logs). It is now a separate download. Regardless of that, when you added it in last screenshot, were you able to see the hi res textures, or is that one also not having any effect?

Oh OK gotcha about the extras addon, makes sense

None of the addons were having an effect for me, and I was using the bundled in GZDoom also that was up to date

I've tried on 3 different PCs and I'm having the same results so I'm not sure what I am doing wrong, for now I'm stuck on 3.7.1

None at all were working also just to point out, even the widescreen one was not working (the sprites look much wider obviously so, and environments), and neither textures too, the comparison pictures up there show the same textures/water effect/widescreen none are working correctly for me at least

I'm leaning towards a user configuration error, but I've no idea what it could be. There is no widescreen addon. The only thing that would make environments wider (and sprites scaled differently) is if you would have loaded AspectRatio.pk3, but I don't see it in the screenshot.

I'm not seeing how it could be a user configuration error though if I have done the same thing for every other install, and only this install (3.8.0 and 3.8.2) are giving the error, doesn't make sense to me either, I can't find the solution

The screenshots show the aspect ratio (not widescreen) error, I listed the pictures above working and not working, you can see both sprites and the environment are stretched in the not working one (3.8.2)

I've loaded plenty of other mods (Project Brutality, older version of all of PSXDOOM CE/64/Final, Blade of Agony, Ashes, Zombies at my Neighbours, Legend of Doom, many more in the past as well, etc) this is the only one that gives issues, so I would have to insist there is something wrong with this package personally, it is the only one that I can't extract and plug and play immediately like all others into a fresh install in a fresh folder

By any chance are you using the GLES renderer? A lot of shader-based effects, like liquid warping, get disabled when using it. This mod is only fully compatible with Vulkan or OpenGL.

I've been currently playing through Doom 2 no rest for the living and I've noticed that the keys are glitching out again! Like if you have a skull key for a skull door it'll sometimes flash indicating that you need a key card even though you don't

Any chance you can fix the Overhaul Brightness from making the guns muzzle flash from brightening up too as it makes it look ugly power ups and muzzle flashes it effects.
