In Desolated you play an Ex-Marine Dave who lost his family. The so called "Monsters" holded up a supermarket and killed his wife same as his two children. In this belief he wanted just to kill all that creatures, no matter of the price. But soon he'll understand, that he fought against the wrong and that there's no real evil or good... In Desolated: The Crying Fate you play the revenge-campaign of Dave and you will get through a lot of different places, for example a village, a train, a facility and so on. So the architecture is going to change very often and also the way of mastering the different places, either. The Modification will have new maps, models, textures, sounds etc. same as a money system, a "new" weapon called Firegun instead of the Plasmagun. What is so special about the mod is the story written by a talented story-writer and the plot is about the good and evil complex, but not like good vs. evil, it's going to be more special and new, a mod with a new kind of story.

Tho, while there is not so much difference...

...will there be some awful, scary surprises/ambushes?

There will be, yes. Not just more enemies or different places... for example in catacombs will be some nasty traps. :D But I ain't wanna spoil, you'll see at the release.

Tho, since it's a comparison of normal and hard difficulty...

I wonder what it would look under Nightmare difficulty. Would it be more dark, and have way more gruesome, scary, nightmarish textures (can be H.R. Giger-like textures, those rock), lava (make it possible you could sink into lava instead to "walk" on it), and some instant death traps? I'd love that, it would just make the game dangerously creepy.

Actually it's not just one thing that'll be different. For example painfull death 2 and catacombs will feature a new small area, catacombs new traps, facility a different environment, sometimes new textures, even a new quest... depending on the maps. Train will have a new waggon and so on... also not all secrets will be shown in easy and medium, only in hard it's possible to get into a secret map some Hell Island players may will remember (but rewised). :D

Description

This picture is showing one of the features of Desolated. If you play in either easy or normal you'll have the main game, but if you play in hard some places will be different (like in this pictures). Also you'll have for example other new things to explore, a fresh quest in desert, a secret map only being unlockable in hard or even a new (addational) levelpart. Therefore it's worth it to play the game again in hard... but be careful: you'll not just see new stuff cause hard still stays hard. ;)
