Very nice! Are there any planned unique locations or dungeon-type locations? Like the ones you explore for special quests or loot

there are already lots of unique locations that are historical recreations of the real places. We don't have any plans to add looting or dungeons.

Damn, there's a lot of castles, and so close to towns and each other.

Paris is a bit congested but it's also intentional and realistic!

There are thousands of castles in France alone, we only picked some of the most relevant ones :)

Yes, I know. I live in Germany where there's also loads of castles.

Do you plan to make a scene of Le Puy en Velay?

it's on the map as a town, but currently a custom scene for the city isn't a top priority. Its a higher priority than it was though, since you asked about it.

Description

The coming update will include a total overhaul of the world map. Besides from the visual improvement, geography and rivers are better proportioned. The range of traversable terrain is similar to the old map, and the gameplay still takes place roughly from the Alps to Flanders, with no plans to go beyond. New map icon variants were made and distributed for all scenes so that they represent the actual locations better. Traveling on roads is faster than other terrain, and pathfinding automatically follows roads if it saves time for both the player and the NPCs. There are many more bridges and rivers than the old map. New tree icons now represent patches of forest instead, and traveling through forest is slower and hides the character icons somewhat, but the character's heraldic flag is still shown popping through the tops of the trees. World map water is now reflective, similar to the behavior of water in scenes.

A big thanks to rgcotl for allowing us to use the mesh from Rome at War's world map as a starting point for southern France.

Seek and Destroy improved the visuals of water for the map.
iJustWant2bPure completed the mesh for use in DAC and overhauled the textures, created new icons, and updated world map shaders.
