Hi Moddb community! First of all, we want to thank you for the incredible support you have given us in the short time that has passed since we announced December's Cold. We have received nothing but kind words from you and some have even show great enthusiasm for the project. With that said, we want to express our appreciation and hope everyone is safe and well.
So far, we have only shown you screenshots and a short video displaying the graphical capabilities of the engine. That's why we decided to go a step further and show you how some of the gameplay mechanics work.
In this video you can see our inventory and smartphone interface in action. STRESS engine was created with the goal of modernizing the way goldsource sounds, feels, looks and plays. Every gameplay feature is being designed with the idea of keeping it simple ( insert Apple/Macintosh joke here ) In the horror games of old, like Silent Hill or Resident Evil, you ussually have tons of buttons displayed on the interface such as check, equip, drop, combine, eat, smell, etc. And as much as we love those games, we feel that kind of gameplay is dated and some of those mechanics are borderline backwards, specially when it comes to younger players. So how does December's Cold handle that? Simple, To check the description of an item, just hover the mouse over the desired slot, if it is a usable item (like a key) you just need to click on it to use it. Finally, if an item is equippable (knife, gun, medicine) it only takes one click to equip it. The logic behind all the game interfaces is TAB + click or click + TAB we have no intention of complicating it at all.
Last but not least, some of the sounds featured in the video belong to the talented Cry of Fear developers, Team Psykskallar. The sounds are there for debug purposes and to avoid breaking ambience while we test/show the game. This features were added recently to the game and we haven't decided how the UI should sound yet, but we will eventually remove them and add our own. We hope the video is of your liking and helps to illustrate this point! Thank you again for the support and enjoy!

identifiquese :P
Would be cool if you did all this on the phone itself but I guess that's a side effect of using Goldsrc.
not really, we could have done it that way, but we just wanted the player to access the interface as quickly and easily as possible. Besides, we want every interface in the game to work exactly the same. But, we will surelly make the screen image change depending on what you touch on the interface to get some extra realism points :P thanks TheRenegadist!
