DEATHWING is a mod for the PC to replace Left 4 Dead 2. It is a cooperative FPS where the objective is to reach the end of each level with as many men as you started.

Start the campaign by selecting your armaments carefully. You have a choice between standard firearms, where ammunition is finite but range is safer, or melee weapons, the up close and personal approach that will never leave you empty handed.
You face an abomination that can only be purged by brute force. Board the space derelict, remove its inhabitants, and discover its true purpose.

Yes, the rumors are true. Level 2 is now released!

NOTE TO EVERYONE: There are game start instructions on the download page's description. Check it out in case there are any issues playing.  Also, please do not run the game as "SINGLE PLAYER" within the L4d2 menu, it will not load correctly. Please run the exec or start a coop, friends-only, local host server.

NOTE TO VETERAN DEATHWING PLAYERS: Please do not run the map using console command "map dwlevel1".  The new way to start the game is through "exec deathwing_coop".

This build includes:
-Level 2!
-Refined Level 1
-New weapons
-Refined old weapons
-Bug fixes
-Refined models
-Voice overs
-UI additions
-And so much more

type in "sv_consistency 0" into the console before you run the maps, that should fix it.

Any chance we will see deaths that act like a camera feed cutting out, like this?

Dying in the game is still pretty terrifying and adds a lot to it.

Also, do you plan on making the genestealers quieter, and adding more random distant ambient sounds, as if they are screwing with the ship? That would probably make them a little more menacing.

It's a shame you can't recode them to do things like they did in the old games, like retreat and try to find a way to flank you or just take cover while you shoot. That would make fighting stealers a lot more tense.

I agree. The genestealers in DEATHWING are only loud if you play with the wrong settings. We have disabled 90% of their whines and squeeks, so if they are quite loud, then you havent started the game correctly.

As far as deaths, I might be able to do something similar.

about the heavy flamer, since this is also source maybe you could see/ask how the Exterminatus team did their flamer?

or is it completely different because it's L4D2

exterminatus is based off the sdk, so they have free reign of everything they make. L4d2 is still locked down, so what we see is what we get. There are some tricky things I can do to the flamer to get it to work better, but they are fairly difficult to implement.

i love your mod, i wish source would allow better mapping though, better quality maps with less l4d content would be nice.

flamers are a bitch to implement, even our own one doesnt really work the way it should, i cant imagine the nightmare you have to go trhough with a locked down engine...if you feel like you need more models i wouldnt mind supplying them, i love to make new models.

WOW, this mod is pretty epic ! Still I have a piece of advice for you:
Change the smoker intro a lictor , the charger intro a tyrant guard , the jockey intro a ripper, the spitter intro a zoanthrope , the tank intro a carnifrex , things like that.If you do this I assure you this will be one of the best L4D mods ever!
