Relive the good ol' days of the DoD mod and join it's growing community. Now Steam Compatible! Day of Defeat (a.k.a. DoD) is the latest online action experience from Valve, makers of Half-Life and Counter-Strike. Stationed in the heart of WWII's European Theater of Operations, players join the ranks of an elite military squad entrenched in battle. Each team has several "player classes," that give each squad member a unique role. These include scout, infantry, sergeant, machine gunner, and more, each with a unique arsenal of historical weaponry at their disposal. Day of Defeat includes an expansive collection of missions based on key historical battles. And a near infinite number of additional missions, created by the online development community, are available for download. As war rages, squads must battle as a unit

Sucks they removed the bleeding mechanic from retail. Apparently it was removed because play testers didn't understand it. Which is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard, you got shot, you bleed, what is there to not understand? Did blind def cretins playtest this? Because anybody who has ever gotten so much as a paper cut should understand that when you get injured, you bleed.
valve's playtesters were notoriously dumb

Even with Sturmbot, it just crashes as soon as I choose the map.
Even then, it won't even show up in my Library. I have to go to SvenCoop just to switch to Day of Defeat, help?

There is a Steam community group that occasionally has Beta 3.1 events. Over 200 members.

Anyone can join and create events, etc. There is a lack of servers lots of the time, but almost always at least one to play on.
Bots??? Theres already bots but they work for some of the older versions of DoD heres the link to the bots and list:
