Our next patch is inches away from release - with even more surprises within!

Posted by on

A few weeks ago, we told you about the parachutes that are soon to come. We are pleased to announce that that is not all that is on its way. Since that announcement, our developers have been hard at work smoothing out every last kink we can for this release to ensure that the new version of Darkest Hour will provide a seamless new dose of possibility for all of our players.

What we didn't mention before is that we are throwing in a couple bonuses. Darkest Hour will now include German Fallschirmjäger players thanks to the newly completed texturing by Aeneas2020. This will now provide a more realistic look for the German Army on many maps.

But that's not all. Thanks to UrbanMob and TMan's modelling work and Aeneas2020's texturing work, we are now able to release the Lee Enfield No4 Mk1(T), the scoped rifle for the British Army! This unique and accurately portrayed scope adds another weapon to our game and another set of possibilities for British levels.

We are all working very hard to bring the new Darkest Hour patch to you as soon as possible. In the midst of doing this, we have discovered and corrected many bugs and other miscellaneous fixes, and are currently overcoming a significant obstacle of parachutes not showing up from a distance. We have a solution, but the work it requires sets us off schedule. So that we can release to you a fully-functional patch, we are aiming for a release during the first week of September. Please stay tuned to our web site as we will have the download posted publicly as soon as it is available.

In other news, Ghost, our lead beta tester turned 60 last week! We are happy to have him on our team and are thankful for his dedication of time. On the contrary, Exocet, our lead mapper, animator, and just about anything else we throw at him, finally took a vacation - after 2 years of solid work on Darkest Hour. It's about time! Lastly, we give a special thanks to all the Splat and 29th Infantry Division players who have been participating in the closed beta testing recently. The extra numbers and your comments have helped us a great deal.

Thanks for the comments....Lately we have been asked frequently how long we will continue to support DH and the answer is that we have a small following but so long as we have some following we'll continue to keep the mod going. We of course want to move on to bigger and better things with a next gen project but we are definately no where near done yet.

I like this mod, everything is great exept for one thing: The SOUNDS!!!
that inkludes the voices of the americans and the new sounds for the weapons.
