DaggerXL is a Modern Daggerfall Engine Recreation for current Operating Systems and hardware – essentially it is a remake in the spirit of a port. It will ultimately fully emulate the game of Daggerfall and then optionally enhance it by refining existing features and adding new gameplay elements that were originally intended. The game will make use of hardware acceleration providing higher resolutions, color depth, greatly improved visibility, better texture filtering, enhanced performance and more. In addition DaggerXL will support full modability, similar to more modern Elder Scrolls games, using custom tools.
A video showing the current state of DaggerXL. I start by fighting my way through Privateer's Hold. Once outside several locations are visited at different times of day showing different climates, location types and lighting. Several features are also demonstrated, such as a more complete sound scape (compared to previous builds), falling damage, multiple save support and more.
Woah! Really nice work! looks so much better than the original one!
why do the version numbers always have to be like... .19898193819
I hate downloading games that don't have version numbers like... 1.0
or 2.0 for that matter
thats so true!
Wow, late reply on my part.
Anyway the reason is simple - once DaggerXL reaches version 1.0 then the core systems and gameplay will be complete (i.e. Beta). Think of it as counting up to version 1.0, the closer the version is, the closer the program is to Beta. :)
wait. so now we can walk to our destination instead of traveling?
You could always do that. It just wasn't enjoyable.
Nevertheless, I did it all the time!
GOD IM DOWNLOADING IT NOOWWWW
Any plans on doing that with arena? =)
