Previously known as the 'Faction Fronts Mod', Clear Skies is a large scale modding initiative, to re-design and expand S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky. With the umbrella motive of creating a realistic, graphically superior and entertaining hybrid of the original game concept.
Work on Clear Skies is surging forward. Recently we have tackled the Hud, finalized the selection of new weapons, and got most of them working in game and added more to the random weapons as well as integrate some new improvements to the AI. At the moment we are working on the 0.1.3 build, when we hit v0.2 we should have a fully playable beta, that can then be handed out to a few lucky members of the community who are eager to see what we have so far. A competition will be held soon.
As for a full public release we hope to bring Clear Skies to the community before Christmas, however the sheer volume of work along with small dev team will make this a challenge for us at 828 Studios. However we will not release until we are happy with the stability of the version 1.0 build. We may cut some not so significant features and later put them in updates.
We are also going to have a patch released with v1 to increase performance, for people struggling with low frame-rates. We hope to achieve this by down scaling textures most people would just walk past, trying our utmost to maintain good overall quality.
