Is there anything that isn't in our features list that you want to be in our mod? Post it below and we'll see about adding it.

So first off I would like to express my deep gratitude toward the team making this mod a reality! I never even considered the harry potter world would be enjoyable in CK2, but now I see just how wrong I was. As soon as I saw this, my mind started racing with the possibilities!

As for suggestions, I have brainstormed a few off the top of my head. If they're completely insane, definitely let me know.

Playable Races:

I would add in Veela possibly. They are human-esque and play a part in the lore of harry potter. And there could even be a trait listing a character as half Veela just like Fleur Delacour.

Events/decisions:

You mentioned that there were many more, so I'm not sure if what I would suggest is already added, but here goes.

I would add in a dueling event where you can duel your rival or an enemy. There's already events like that implemented in the base game, it would just have to be changed to wands instead of swords, and magic instead of strikes.

Maybe have events where you can go on quests or adventures to find some special item or learn some long forgotten spell. One thing I can think of is an event to find the elder wand if no one currently holds it. Or additionally the event could be used for any of the magically powerful and historic items.

If a dark wizard, maybe an event to create horcruxes or perform some dark spell.

In-Game Special Items:

For the most part I cant think of anything to add other then eventually having more than 100 wands. I'm not really sure what that means though. Are the images for the wands different, the descriptions of them different? Are they named? I imagine there could be a random generator for wands that could generate far more than 100 wands. Give the code a range of numbers for the length, a host of different types of wood, the various types of cores, and maybe a special event if there happens to be two people with sister wands.

Lifestyle Traits:

Potions Master

Transfiguration Master

Charms Master

Dark Wizard

Traits:

This is a tricky part I guess, because I could add loads of them. And I'm not sure what you have already added as well. So my suggestions for traits include:

Animagus, Metamorphmagus, Parselmouth, Ameture Duelist, Competent Duelist, Master Duelist, Ameture Charmer, Competent Charmer, Masterful Conjurer, (I cant think of other job traits), Chosen One, Dark Wizard, Head Master, Professor, Has dragon egg, Dragon rider, has broom, prophesier, seer, head of house, prefect, head boy/girl.

There are plenty more I'm sure you've already thought of. I just thought I would add my two cents and attempt to help make this game a tiny bit better than it already is.

Thank you for your time! Keep up the good work!

Hey vertical006,

A lot of fantastic Ideas and actually many of these have already been implemented, though the Veela race is a new one and a brilliant idea. Regarding the 100 wands let me explain: When you turn 11 you receive your wand from Ollivander. The wand given to you is chosen at random. There are 10 different shapes of wand, 10 types of wood and 10 cores (New graphic for each wand).

*Woods = Blackthorn, Cherry, Ebony, Elm, Hawthorn, Holly, Oak, Walnut, Willow, Yew.

*Cores (Represented by Trait background colour & description) = Basilisk-Venom, Dragon-Heartstring, Phoenix-Feather, Unicorn-Hair, Veela-Hair, Abraxan-Feather, Bicorn-Blood, Erkling-Heartstring, Griffin-Heartstring, Grindylow-Heartstring.

I very much like the ranks for duelist & charmer, I may just implement that. Also I should mention that Good & Dark wizards will be identified by trait and Religion. (New religions will simply be: Light & Dark) We even have a Dark Lord event.

You mentioned quests... and yes we absolutely have quest lines with plenty of loot. (Many canon-esque quests)

Now, Dragons! We currently have 13 breeds of dragon and one of the ways you can obtain a dragon is through quests. Dragons will always start off as an egg and if you do happen to obtain an egg through questing you will not know what breed it is until it hatches. As I say this is just 1 of the ways of obtaining a dragon, I don't want to give too much away at this time. Also I am still undecided on dragon riders.

Anyways as I said these are some fantastic Ideas and I really appreciate the time you took to write this. Yep many of these are already in the mod, but there are a few here I haven't thought of so thank you. Thanks for the support, I better crack on, lots to do. :D

Hello Vahlgoul, and thanks alot for putting effort into this mod. I think it can easily rival other great ones such als AGOT and LOTR!

My post is more so about question instead of suggestions, but if you don't want to answer them because they give away too much, that's just fine :) .

Is it perhaps possible to create some sort of event to go searching for a Rare/Special/Ancient wand or something like that, perhaps custom wands itself by making a quest along the lines of Valyrian steel swords searching in the GoT mod, for example. This takes you on a quest to get such a sword, which you can reforge into lots of different swords. Perhaps something like an option menu for different types of special wands you want to go on a quest for once you, for example, gained enough knowledge about them.

Something which I thought of, which already exists in the AGOT mod aswell, is perhaps a house customizer trait for character created by the ruler designer dlc, so that you perhaps can choose to which house you belong such as Gryffindor.

Also perhaps an event for someone with high enoug intrigue to steal a certain artifact or just gold from the famous bank of gringots? That sounds pretty interesting, perhaps it could also be a place to store your wealth/artifacts to prevent them from being taken/stolen if this could even be achieved by coding lol. Probably not though although it is a nice things to hope for.

These special wand quests could perhaps be restricted until you reach a certain skill level of a particular spell or spells or a certain level of wizardry you must master to activate these quests, aswell as perhaps your learning skill.

Sorry if this is a bit too much based off of another mod's ideas, but perhaps you can contact that development team for help on coding these things if they are implementable.

Cheers and lots of luck with the development!

Hello spartansoldier8,

You have a lot of great ideas here, however, some of them won't be added to the mod (in the foreseeable future).

We are familiar with the valyrian sword quest in the GoT mod and we've taken some inspiration from it. There will be similar-styled event for it where you seek out a wand-maker who gives you a selection on custom wands to choose from. I think this fits the theme of Harry Potter a lot more.

At the moment, we're not sure if we'll have the house customizer as we're not big fans of the whole idea, (it doesn't mean we'll never add it though).

I like your Gringotts idea but as we've said a few times, the only added bookmark and the timezone that the whole mod revolves around is 990 AD and Gringotts was founded in 1474. As much of a great idea as it is, we unfortunately won't be including it.

Thank you for your support!

Hey Valghoul/Aleros,

Firstly, I want to say that I'm super ecstatic to see a Harry Potter oriented mod for CK2. I've only had CK2 for about a week now and I'm so glad I bought it because I can already see my self playing the mod for hours on end.

And now for my suggestions...

Races:

I think Hags are the only thing not on the list. They're only mentioned a hand-full of times in the books, and by no means crucial to have in a Harry Potter mod, but it's still a little thing that would be funny to see as a race. If it's not added as a race by itself, maybe just a negative congenital trait like clubfooted and lisp.
Other than that there really isn't anything I can think of to add to the list.

Potions:

I don't know if you guys already have a plan for potions, but think It'd be cool if you could have a 'Brew a Potion' decision in the Intrigue menu where you'd have to pick from different tiers of potions that would depend on the level of your Potions Master trait. When you choose to 'Brew a Potion', you could be prompted to pick either Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced. And from those they would have different potions to go with them. A successfully completed potion would give the character a trait saying that they have one and would give them an option to drink it themselves or give it someone.

This is just how I'd think potions would work well for CK2, but again, I've only been playing for a little over a week so I don't know what would be the best way to do it.

I know there's probable a hand-full of potions that weren't developed yet in 990 AD, but it would give you guys a chance to put your own creative spin into the different potions. There could even be antidotes that you could brew to cure a character of disease that they may have.

To sort of go along with what I said above, you could add a Amortentia potion under advanced potions which would allow you to start a 'poison with Amortentia' Intrigue plot to make the target have a significantly higher opinion of you. To keep it from being too OP you could make the chance of the plot being discovered VERY high due to the scent being very distinct and the pearly sheen and steam from the Amortentia being very noticeable. This is just one of the things that came to mind with the possibility of potions, so I realize how unlikely this might be possible.

Quests:

For Dark Wizards, maybe a quest to find and kill a Unicorn for it's blood. It could give a boost to health and fertility.

Questions:

Will all the students of Beauxbatons be female and those of Durmstrang male? I think there were refrences of students of both genders attending either school in the book, but I'm just curious of where you were planning to go with that.

That's all I have to say for now. Thanks for reading and good luck with the mod! I look forward to playing!

-Dom

My Ideas:

Wizard Education Traits: 1. They could be real education traits. To prevent normal people gaining them they could require trait wizard to gain them and to wizards don't get normal education traits they should require to not have wizard trait. But bad side of this is you could not chose to be potion master or any other wizard type. 2. They could work like normal traits and when you finish school you pick potion master (or any other wizard type) and then you have 25% chance to get potion master, 25% to be level 3... And depending on trait you could buy a dragon, make a new type of potion...

End of the year at school: If you play as child character at the end of every school year you would get test and depending on performance you would get few levels for subject from which you had test (this could be done with traits, like Transfiguration level 3)

Picking subjects: After 3. year at school you must pick few new subjects.

Hey Kingsley-whitekid,

You've got some really good ideas here. There will be potion brewing in the game and a few quests that actually tigh into it.

Mainly quests for rare ingredients which allow you to brew some of the more advanced potions.

Though it never crossed my mind to brew cures, so thanks for that, awesome idea. With the ability to be able to gift these cures to people will make things very interesting.

Regards to the schools, they will not be gender specific.

Thanks for your support ;)

Hey CroMapper,

Thanks for the idea, though the Education traits implemented are already 'real'. These traits will not be given to anyone other than those with magic cultures.

Things like Potions master, charms master & Transfiguration etc. are lifestyle traits and also given titles depending on whether or not you're a Headmaster/Headmistress. These traits will be gained depending on what fields you choose to pursue.

You will gain magic levels from every class/quest you take.

Thanks for the support.

Can I suggest entering the Sacred 28

The Sacred Twenty-Eight were, according to the author of the Pure-Blood Directory (widely believed to have been Cantankerus Nott), the twenty-eight British families that were still "truly pure-blood" by the 1930s.

Harrypotter.wikia.com

The last 28 fully Pureblood families, given that their all considered pureblood it's likely that they were all still around in the time period, as courtiers or barony holders at most

Already mentioned in the Features.

Ok.. phew.. I got a few suggestions. I even made an account to post this... okay.

1) Founders Names- I noticed the founders names are quite long. Maybe it would be best if you shortened them a bit.

2) As vertical006 add Veela but perhaps add them as a trait.

3) It may be an idea to allow duelling by swords as well as wand. As this extract from Pottermore says.

The question of why a wizard would need a sword, though often asked, is easily answered. In the days before the International Statute of Secrecy, when wizards mingled freely with Muggles, they would use swords to defend themselves just as often as wands. Indeed, it was considered unsporting to use a wand against a Muggle sword (which is not to say it was never done). Many gifted wizards were also accomplished duellists in the conventional sense, Gryffindor among them.

Hey ThisGamingGuy,

First off let me say thanks for your show of interest in the mod.

1) Founders names, I don't believe to be too long and if I were to shorten them down they would no longer be canon.

2) Veela, these have already been implemented and as a new culture. (new portraits)

3) Duelling, there will be both forms of duelling in the mod.

Again thanks for your support.

I know this is pretty late so it probably won't make it into this version.

What kind of religions are muggles going to have since you're giving wizards light and dark religions? If they have the same religions as they do in vanilla, which would make sense, I'm wondering how intermarriage will work or if it is possible?

I'd also like to suggest magic laws like what they had in Merlin where wizards and other races are persecuted in places where magic is illegal, but the law causes revolts and gives wizards and vassals a CB. My idea would be when it is illegal, magic practitioners like Merlin can avoid getting caught based on chance, traits (genius, quick, diligent, paranoid, deceitful, humble, and patient would make it less likely to get caught; honest, trusting, slow, imbecile, greedy, slothful, proud, and envious would make it more likely), and intrigue skill of the wizard/other race and state intrigue of the prosecutor. I admit, that is pretty complicated and there are a lot more exciting and important things to do on this mod, but if you ever feel like adding more flavour it might be fun. A simpler thing to do instead is just add a hates magic trait if you haven't already done that, and give it to guys like Uther Pendragon and the 10th century equivalents of the Dursleys.

I don't know if you have already decided one way or another on dragon riders being included, but you could incorporate some of the lore from the inheritance series by Christopher Paolini.

Make it impossible for purebloods to marry others unless they're landed and the person they want to marry is their lover. Otherwise everyone in-game will be half-blood or worse.

Make it impossible for purebloods to marry others unless they're landed and the person they want to marry is their lover. Otherwise everyone in-game will be half-blood or worse.

This is very interesting, but I do not think it should be so restrictive, so my suggestion is that purebloods can only marry other purebloods and that Dark wizards can only marry in his religion.

In addition, I wanted to suggest an improvement in school events and perhaps, a decision for AI Headmaster to search for wizards with high levels of magic and/or with one of the Special Lifestyle Traits to become professor.

It would be nice!
