really nice model but on a historical note ive read that these were some of the worst tanks the British produced through out the war other than the churchill

The churchill was the best tank the Brits had which could withstand fire from German tanks. Its frontal armour of some variants was 152mm thick, more than the Tiger I and panther's frontal armour (yes the Panther had sloping armour but whatever). If the Brits had put into service the Black Prince in time (basically a Churchill chassis with a turreted 17pdr ATG) they would seriously kick some ***.

Dont forget the churchill was an old concept of Tank warfare a Infantrytank an so very slow only good armor or gun is nothing when u a sittin Duck on the Battlefield, learn from France they had a good armored Tank at wars begin the Char B2, german AT crew had problems to kill him but this beast was slow and so it was a good target for 88mm Flak or attackin Ju87B Stuka. The Black Prince was no solution against German Tanks like Panther or Tiger but the Church. would have been better than Cromwell Matilda or maybe the Firefly Sherman compared to the latter churchill was a more stable gun platform thats also an important point. later brits produced a good balanced tank the Comet and in the last days of war one of the best tanks in history the Centurion.

Regarding the Char B2 in France, I don't think the Germans had discovered the potential of the Flak 18 with AP ammo aas a powerful ATG. I thought that happened in the desert not in France.
The churchill was an old concept but for what its use was it was great. It supported infantry unlike the Char B2 in 1940 which was a heavy tank (designed purely to take punishment). The german heavies too had a mobility problem, they too had heavy armour and powerful weaponry. This leads me to think that although the A43 Black prince was still an infantry tank, it had similar attributes to the Tiger 1 at least. Both had slow cross country speed, both were heavily armoured and both had a powerful gun. Tank vs Tank I wouldn't doubt that the A43 stood a better chance against german heavies when compared to the Firefly and comet. Now don't get me wrong, the comet is IMO the best balanced tank the Brits had in WW2. But its armour at 101mm frontal was thinner that the A43's. If both the A43 and the Comet made it in time the Comet would suffer more casualties for the simple reason that at the long distances german tank crews liked engaging, the A43 had better survivability. It wasn't too large in size, which compensates for the slow speed, operated with infantry support which gave benefits to the infantry tank and vice-versa, and as you said, a stable gun platform. The Centurion was indeed too late but it was perhaps a more capable tank. Though it still had 101mm of armour, its main gun was a 20pdr (83.8mm) which was undoubtedly more powerful.

Lastly I simply want to point out that The comet, A43 (if it entered service) and the Centurion (if it saw service in time) could all be effective against German armour, whatever their true use was. But let's not go out of point. This is a North Africe mod after all.

Only one point! U are wrong with the 88mm our troops used the 8,8 as an Antitank measure also in France iam not 100% sure but i think it was Guderian he used a 88 line against a France and Brit Counterattack against the germans, also Matildas were victims of the 8,8 in France it was the only weapon that can penetrate Matildas armor on range, Rommel do the same with 88mm in Africa ,with or without AP ammo first use of 88 vs. Tanks was in France

Well to what extent was it effective with HE ammo against tanks I do not know. But if you say that it was truly used in France for the first time against tanks, then very well. Though still the true potential of the 88 emerged in the desert, when they discovered the massive armour penetration potential with the AP. If it was used with AP before North Africa no one would be making that fuss that The Matilda II was truly the queen of the Desert and that is was indestructible.

He is correct about the 88 first being used against armour in France. Not sure about the HE thing but I'm pretty sure they were equipped with AP ammunition.

I checked some internet sources and it appears you're right, they were used vs tanks in France and it was there it made the first big impact. The shells were probably AP because they could penetrate 84mm of armour at 2km away. 88's in France destroyed 152 tanks and 151 bunkers. The 88 was actually used for the first time as an anti tank weapon and a general artillery piece as early as the Spanish civil war with the Condor Legion!

Looks like I was super wrong!

You really need to take all Brit tanks into account. Max frontal armour was (not sure) 51mm thick for the Crusader. Previous British cruiser tanks which were in the desert did not exceed 20mm in frontal armour thickness. They were basically 100% vulnerable even to the german 37mm Pak36 or even the light Italian ATG's. The crusader was not perfect: it was very vulnerable versus the Panzer III's 50mm gun, Panzer 4 special's 75mm L43 and L/48 and obviously the 88mm Flak 18. However it was better armoured than its predecessors, and later on it received the 6 pounder. The germans were quick to respect its superior speed to the german panzers.
