This is a work in progress of the forthcoming mod "Colonialism1600 AD" ,that aims to recreate the atmosphere of 17th century colonialism by the European Empires. It will refresh the the game of ETW by presenting some new ideas. The first difference of the other mods is that Colonialism will be a multi-mod. That means that the player will encounter different media (music, loading screens, ui, campaign and battle hud, etc.) in game depending the faction he selects to play as. There will be 3 different types for European, Indian and Amerindian factions.

Description

Improves on the earlier startpos by bringing regions ownerships more into line with 1600AD. Changes include: Poland gains Ukraine, Russia gains Ingria, Spain gains Jamaica, Curacao and Bahamas. Portugal gains Ceylon. Netherlands loses Dutch Guyana. France loses French Guyana, New France and Acadia. England loses Ruperts land, Jamaica and the Bahamas. Austria gains Alsace-Lorraine.

Install at Empire total War/Data/campaigns/main

To be run alongside Colonialism 1600AD which is downloadable separately.

NB for now, in the regions where ownership is changed, you can only move starting armies there from Turn 2 onwards.

NB. If you experience problems you can use the earlier startpos instead wich can be downloaded here.

NB, make sure to download and install this file first Moddb.com before you install the download listed on this page. When asked if you want to override the old startpos.esf click yes.

All I've changed are region ownerships, the starting year (1600) and ruler names/ages.

You have to delete all other mods except the Colonialism 1600AD mods from the Data folder from the data folder and as I said before, you have to run this alongside the full Colonialism 1600AD mod which is downloadable separately. Also try using Modmanager to launch.

Will any of the files require an extraction? (i.e WinRar or 7z?)

Okay, so here is my report. I extracted them, placed the appropriate files into the specified folders, made sure to back up the vanilla "startpost" just in case, paid attention to the forum "Avoid CTD's" by Deleting my saves, scripts, user scripts and fx_cache. Ran Steam on Admin,(I open it via steam.)all on my Windows 8 OS. -It started up just fine, even saw the 1600 AD colonialism mod above the factions with new portraits to boot. Started campaign on default Grand Campaign settings...starts to load..then...crash! I've thought about it and no idea what it could be.

Also, running newest version of Empire Total War. Now, when I did Remove your "startpos" file and replaced it with the Vanilla "Startpos" file everything started working just fine, it still even loaded the other PACK mods, so your portraits and maybe even added units and descriptions and modifications may of still been active. Looked like it.

Both startpos's work fine for me. Perhaps you have other mods in the Data folder that are conflicting? You can always default to the older startpos downloable here. Moddb.com

Definitely no other mods. This is the only mod I have attempted to use since the steam version is updated. I've likely assumed any mods created/updated not recently (within 2014) probably won't be compatible with my steam version. I will try this older Startpos version of yours however. Thanks.
