The PAC4 is comparable to the GDI Rig in the original game: You have to deploy it if you want it to do anything :P

Also, the Patriot is the only "bulky" AA ingame.

I thought that the Patriot had been turned into an anti-missile system. But I guess that reality isn't really all that terribly important.
No, THAAD is the anti missile system, patriot is both, SAM and anti missle.
