This is a full conversion Tolkien mod for Crusader Kings 2 which will feature bookmarks throughout the Third Age. This mod is being developed independently from any other LotR or Middle Earth mods out there. The map will cover the main areas of Middle Earth, known in the books and films. So, Middle-Earth is waiting for you! Will you play as the descendant of one of the noble families of Rohan or Gondor? Will you try to reforge the ancient kingdoms of Elves in Eriador? Or will you try to destroy all the Free Peoples, and claim Middle Earth for Morgoth? This mod will give you a unique strategy experience of the Third Age in Middle-Earth. From Forodwaith to Bellakar, from Lindon to Rhûn, lead your dynasty and survive the Dark Times. Become one of the most important Lords of the Age!

Please remember that this is still only an early beta, there will be problems, there will be "What the-" moments, but we are making progress. But now, here's a small showcase of some of the new features and fixes in this next patch.

Here Be Dragons
Now, if you are a Dwarf lord with the right traits and a massive amount of gold, you have a chance to trigger the invasion of a dragon from the north, intent on taking the booty for itself.

You can try to fight the dragon head on, but only the strongest will be able to slay a dragon. Will you risk losing your homeland in becoming the richest and most prestigious of all Dwarves?

There are three dragon types, Fire-Drakes, Cold-Drakes and Long-Worms, and we have also added five dragons to the history files: Glaurung the Father of Dragons, Ancalagon the Black, Smaug the Golden, Scatha the Worm and the fictional Helegraug the Terrible, slayer of Dain I in the Grey Mountains.

A Balrog of Morgoth
It is now possible, if you a Dwarf who has reclaimed Khazad-Dûm, to search the mines for Mithril. Success will bring you great riches, and it is up to you how much risk you take, either searching in the safe but more barren upper galleries, or in down in the deeps.

However, use caution. The deeps are home to a dark and unspeakable terror, it would not be wise to disturb the Balrog and risk losing Khazad-Dûm forever.

There is also another event chain tied to this one, the story of Amroth of Nimrodel. If the terror of the deeps awakes, this event chain may trigger, sparking Amroth and Nimrodels journey to Valinor, their separation and marriage of Imrazor and Mithrellas.

A multitude of other things have been added and we have tweaked some based on player feedback:

  • Colonising the wilderness can now be done regardless of whether only race or culture is Wilderness, and is now tied to the position of your Steward, allowing you to choose where to colonise first.
  • New warrior and civil traits have been added, and you can now take ambitions to improve your skills, be that fighting or growing Pipe Weed.
  • The forces of darkness have a new casus belli allowing them to attack neighbouring good realms, and the Easterlings have a new 'Tribal Invasion' casus belli.
  • The armies of Saruman and Rohan in the Ring War bookmark have been balanced.
  • There are new buildings: roads, which come in several tiers.
  • The 'Heir of Durin' blood trait has been added.
  • Certain races may now abdicate the throne and allow their heir to rule.
  • New events for reclaimin Khazad-Dûm, Gundabad and Osgiliath.
  • River Celduin from Esgaroth to Sea of Rhun is now navigable by ship.

There is much more, and you can read the full changelog included with the download. That's all for now, we hope you enjoy this next step in the MEP ladder.

What version of ck2 is this for?
Guessing it'll have major problems with newest ck2 version due to date this was released. Any estimate as to when a up to date version would be released?
