A HD pack for the Half-Life 1 mod, "Chemical Existence"! This mod improves the original in some ways. These includes improving the models, sounds, sprites, map alterations, and more!
The worst mod for HL1.
I was replaying the original Chemical Existence and decided to try this remod as well, it wasn't pretty. The biggest issue is the new models and since you are looking at them at all times, it hurts the experience quite a lot.
None of the models are better than the original. The bum model has a huge torso, long arms and tiny legs. The black guy with the sledgehammer has scaly skin? The female punk looks nothing like the original and instead is a generic goth looking girl? The mutant creature is a gorilla with a green skin! I can't believe someone decided it looked good and fitting. Even models that didn't got renewed were messed up. The Creature boss wasn't re-modeled, simply it's textures were re-colored with a red overlay and looks even more low quality then before, I am baffled by these decisions.
The best models were the weapons and even then, they are pointlessly changed for whatever reason. The SMG with the flashlight replaced with an M16 for example.
Similarly, the new sounds are pretty bad too. One of the best examples is the dream sequence, it used to have a chilling, child like laughter, now it's been replaced with a generic low pitched laugh that is a complete downgrade, again, I cannot understand why there was an insistence to "fix" something when it was just fine to begin with.
Overall, I see no reason to play this over the original (which wasn't a great mod anyway).
I don't know about the original one but this "remod" was pathetic.
It's like the author tore himself apart trying to make the models
The civilians are midgets with their legs being half the size of their torso. The black thugs are like beefed up midgets. Not to forget the player model that also looked like cr*p.
There is no flashlight and the mod is extremely dark so good luck trying to see anything.
15 minutes into the game and I quit cause of these and many more issues that make this mod terrible.
(Sliding electric doors for urban apartments? Really?!)
Technical issues with some sounds but still a very enjoyable mod.
Worth to download!
Really Great remod! Nice to add some music as well, definitly will satisfy me
