First off the staff at Iron Sight Studios would like to wish you a very late Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, sorry for the delay, we've only just regained consciousness.

Secondly, as you may have noticed the ModDB profile for G:BF is looking a little bare these days. This is due to a couple of things. One of which is a hard drive crash caused us to lose alot of work, the second is because we also had a major reshuffle of the design document recently, with many new and changed units, generals powers, and a new storyline. However, it will be filling up with content with each news post, and there should already be some new stuff in the galleries by the time you read this.

Below is some information and renders of the new units.

New content:
The first of our new units is the M-270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS), a rocket artillery unit on treads, it has a long range and fires a barrage of 12 rockets and then reloads. It's fairly slow, but it's armour can be upgraded, and it packs a deadly punch to structures and groups of armoured vehicles. It comes fairly late in the game, but can be used to launch a deadly final assault, or defend your base at range.

The second unit we're showcasing is the new and improved Cougar. It's a low level strike yet, armed with two parachute bombs, particularly effective in hit and run attacks on enemy armour, or quite capable of destroying buildings when used in groups. It's fast and agile, at the expense of less armour. However, it's engines can be upgraded, giving it more speed and reducing it's chances of being hit by enemy fire. Buildable at the airfield, a must have for clearing the way for your ground assault. (Brownie points to anyone who can tell us the name of the real life aircraft the Cougar is based on.)

Unit three is custom design of ours, it's a Generals power aircraft called the Trenchard (further Brownie points to anyone who knows what it's named after). The design is inspired partly by the Eurofighter, re-designed for the bomber role. Much like the Warthog, this jet bomber flies over a targeted area and bombards it using bomblet pods under the wings. With each generals point spent on this power, another Trenchard will join the attack, up to a maximum of three. It's a three star General's power, and is highly effective against infantry and all ground vehicles.

Other news:

  • We're currently working on an all new command bar for Britain, can't show any images yet, but it's going to look good.
  • A new G:BF website is also under construction, the old one was badly outdated and needed a makeover.
  • Also, expect a video of in game units next time!

Also be sure to take a look at www.ironsightstudios.com/forums and the G:BF forums at Ironsightstudios.com

That's all folks until next time,
Blackburn - Mod Leader

You're not wrong about the 60's style, the Cougar is using the design of the BAC TSR.2, a cancelled 60's prototype strike aircraft, and the Trenchard is a design of my own, which is partly inspired by the Blackburn Buccaneer, another Cold War jet.

The Lions head, rose, and shield, all make up the new faction logo for Britain. The rose is a Socialist symbol, aswell as an English symbol, as is the Lion. I'll upload a bigger version of it to the gallery and explain it better there, thanks for pointing it out.

And yeah, brownie points for you, although having been in the ATC I'd be surprised if you didn't know that :p

Nice idea but we've already got the bomber role covered by the two aircraft shown in the last news post.

The colours are slightly different on that image to how they are in game. That's due to the way it was rendered, it made it far too light. So I darkened it in photoshop, that's why it looks odd.
