I have received feedback about performance problems in some of the new maps.
I optimized a lot of (if not all) their particles, lightings systems, entities, etc. to gain a maximum of FPS.
Dozens of items, hand-by-hand, hours of work.
It's better now!
Have some tips, especially if you don't have a recent computer:
It's sometimes a little difficult to improve things due to engine limitations and design choices but I'll keep an eye on your comments like usual. I'll do my best to improve performance; I've been 100% committed to this since the beginning.
Some puzzles in the new chapters were made a little easier thanks to minor edits, new visual & audio hints, more detailed quests and notes. Thanks for the feedback!
I also spotted one or two little mapping errors plus a typo; the rest should be good!
Steam release was delayed… obviously… still should be for Q4 2022 at least. ๐คทโ๏ธ
It was scheduled for Halloween but the validation process is way, way slower than expected (and promised). We use a support ticket system to communicate and it's chaotic… long answer delays (often 4-5 days), different interlocutor nearly each time, difficulties to understand each other, a lot of precious days lost, demands not read and robot-like answers… ๐
When I paid my Greenlight pass in 2018, I was told there would be one person assigned per developer to make communication easy, with answers sent the next day. It's not the case at all.
If it was today I would not do it again. It is a bad joke…
I should say how I am sad of what this platform has become, for players AND developers…
… but I don't have any expectations left. I'm really tired and disappointed. I don't care anymore.
So, whatever, let's move on. ๐
In a result, I decided to keep it to the strict minimum there: game will be out as promised and will receive patches, that's normal.
In the other hand:
If I add a workshop later I think that will be via mod.io though. ๐ค

I noticed that some antivirus software detected the Forbidden Trip Windows launcher as malware; don't worry, this is a false positive of course.
I sent the file for analysis and whitelisting to concerned companies; I already received a few positive answers.
Feedback still welcome! To be sure don't forget to set your game folder in the ignore list inside your antivirus settings. ๐

The day has finally come, after a little more than 9 years and a half.
๐ Forbidden Trip is out in its finale, complete build. ๐
After a few weeks of intensive final testing, this is the end of Early Access. ๐ฅ
To celebrate, we have a teaser (don't watch it if you want maximum surprise) as well as a download of that new 1.5 build that was teased for so long (remove older builds before installing)!
You already know FT is scheduled for Steam release in a few weeks but I wanted to upload it here first.
Mod DB is like my home for the project! I created my account in 2012 but I remember browsing it since ~2006… Thanks for making this website to help creators promote their projects! ๐
I'll write more news soon because I'll have other things to talk about.
Forbidden Trip started as a small project, a therapy in fact; it became something way bigger.
It is certainly not for everybody but I had fun making it, in the end.

While the new build is being tested, I'm preparing the last few things for the release, first here on Mod DB, then a little later on Steam. ๐

Last week, the 1.5 content update was sent to testers; it was on the 13th of September.
It has already received a few hotfixes thanks to the very valuable feedback, thanks a lot. ๐ช
No big problem as I write those lines, just little adjustments.
It means it will be released on Mod DB next month!
Nearly 10 years of development… mamma, mamma!! ๐
The only big thing left to do is not that big: it's just updating the loading screens… maybe one or two UI elements as well, then it's over for those two arcs.
While private playtests are in progress, I uploaded my current developer build on Steam to try and configure various things there.
As you can see, I made my own launcher for Forbidden Trip, especially for this platform.
With that, the game is 100% compatible with gamepads; the Big Picture mode.
I'll see if I can add an option there to easily turn on or off the old-school render. โ

You may have noticed that Workshop button! That is something I want to experiment, this way people could be able to upload and play their custom stories or other mods easily.
I have to set up things first and see if it's easy to implement so: no promises.
I'm just testing possibilities right now.
I'll give a try with implementing achievements as well.
I've already created some and will see if it is easy to setup with Steam API.
Like for the workshop: no promises it will make it to the full game.
