Will you hide in the trenches whilst bullets fly over your head,still shellshocked by the enemies artillery shells exploding beside you and tearing your fellow soldiers to pieces? Or will you charge across no mans land with your bayonet?

I suggest you paint the terrain to match the color of the trench prop.

Only one thing....
The trenches weren't dug in a straight line they were jagged it was called dogtoothed and this prevents the shrapnel of a grenade from blasting along the trench line or a single soldier being able to just fire left to right without defending troops to have any cover
If you think about it though, the trench dirt was from deeper down so it would have been darker, granted though it could be blendid better.
