That was one of the Single Player modifications formerly hosted in FileFront, which, as core feature, lets you play with as many bots as you want on all map sizes.
There are however some other changes, such as the fact that snipers do much more damage than usual)
This mod is one of the few that could not find its way to ModDB, but I just found it on an old desktop of mine, so I am uploading it here.

Basic Changelog (according to the ReadMe file by Blixy16):
EFFECTS - All explotion effects in the game have been changed to look more realistic.
KITS - New weapons have been added to almost every kit. Each kit has different Weapons depending on which map you are playing. For example if it is an urban map engineers will have shotguns for close combat,
but if it is a desert map with larger open areas engineers will have rifles.
SOLDIERS - Soldiers now have blood when shot and thier bodies will stay on the ground for a long period of time.
VEHICLES - All vehicles have been tweeded or changed in the game from health to damage. The wreckage of vechicles now stay for a long period of time, but if you find that wreckes are getting in the way
you can always just blow them up. All air craft have been changed. Bombs now drop one at a time and guns have faster rate of fire.
WEAPONS - Some weapons have been changed like claymores and mines, you aren't limited to how many you can place on the ground, also they will stay on the map untill disarmed or blown up. Weapon now no longer heat up
explosives like C4, anti tank weapons, mines, tank shells have a more realistic damage area. Snipers have been tweeked aswell, the 50cal snipers have a greating zoom.
A.I - I tweeked the a.i so that their not so god dam stupid. I have added a lot more bots to the game aswell (85).

While cleaning up my old room I found a 1TB hard drive from 2011 which has Battlefield 2 + Botmod installed.
While I cannot yet guarantee with 100% certainty that all mappacks will be included, it is very likely and hence I'm already uploading the new ZIP here soon.
New instructions for installing : Extract the botmod folder to your "[..]Battlefield 2\Mods" folder and create a shortcut to BF2.exe with the argument "+modPath mods/botmod" (without quotation marks).
I will be testing the mod in July only, when I'll then update the description accordingly!

Hello, I have downloaded this mod and would like to play it but I keep running into a problem, when I try to use the mod shortcut it brings up a error saying it can't find Advanced SP options, if you could help fix this error it would be very helpful, thanks.

Where do I change the total number of bots? 85 at one time is too much for my rig to handle. I tried edit it in the serversettings.con but nothing changed, I still have 43 in both teams.
If I remember correctly, you could edit the bot number on Advanced SP Options. However, when I am using it under windows 10, it only launches the game...
I might have mixed my memories about mods and the botchanger thing might be from another mod after all, I'm sorry...
If I am not mistaken, you can launch the game as LAN Multiplayer, with 1 player limit (and 0/1 players to start :P) so you can choose a different number of bots.
I will take a look around and see if I can find a fix for that ;)
EDIT:
I might have found a fix (I do not have time to test it, but I believe it will work):
1. Go to the main mod folder(botmod)/AI and open the file AIDefault with a text editor (I recommend either normal notepad or Notepad++). I suggest you make a copy of the file, in case something goes wrong.
2. Look for "aiSettings.setMaxNBots 85", BELOW all the lines that start with "REM"
3. Change the 85 to whatever number you wish!
4. Have fun bro ;)
