It was used by Germans from Italian export, from 1943 the Germans seized the Italian factories and produced these SMG for themselves as MP 739(i).
How common was the MP 739?
No idea. Can't find any data about how much of these was produced, all I've seen was maybe 3-4 photographs of SS schutzen with these weapons on italian and eastern front.

I imagine that would take a while.
Hope you'll get around to it, would love to finally see Italian soldiers in the Afrika campaign.
