We have stopped the development of Aurora. It's the 21st November 2138: A SOS arrived at NATO headquarter from a space colony. They sent out their new battleship Aurora to help them.

Today S4lz want to present you his latest model for the Aurora Mod: The main battle tank “Panther 4”

The Panther 4 is the most modern tank in the world. It's primary used by the NATO forces and the US Army. It is developed and produced in Germany.

Common:

Because of his 4 threads this tank is more flexible to the terrain witch makes it possible to use this tank on nearly every place on earth.

The Panther 4 can carry up to 3 different weapons. The Main cannon, a mounted MG, and also a Anti Air battery.
This tank needs a crew of only 2 man. A Driver witch can use the Main cannon and the Anti Air battery. And a second man for the MG.

Weapons

  • Main Cannon

This weapon is an “energy only weapon” witch needs no additional Ammo, and must not be
reloaded, it just needs a small recharge time.

  • MG

The MG is completely remote controlled and fires up to 3500 bullets per minute, with a
             caliber of
             .50 BMG

  • Anti Air Battery

The Anti Air Battery can be used against air vehicles or even against light-middle armor
vehicles. It fires 20mm rounds with an speed of 1800 shots per minute.

about the machine gun, since the cyclic fire rate is 3500 rounds per minute, I assume that it is rotary (ie: a minigun), however, it fires .50 BMGs...

the only miniguns that i know of fire 5.56 or 7.62 NATO rounds... to fire .50 cal seems ridiculous, especially at the fire rate you're claiming. A .50 cal round costs about $6, times 3500 rpm is $21,000/minute, not to mention the space it would require to store the immense amount of rounds

Cool looking, but there are some little bits that would make it inpractical for actual usage.

1) Impracticle to only have a machine gunner and a main gunner/anti-air gunner. The machine gun is far more likely to be automated than the driving of the vehicle, so I'd relegate the duties of a two-man tank as follows: Driver/Main Gunner, anti-air/machine gunner.

2) On the Treads: It is far more practicle to use two treads than 4.
- Having 4 treads will increase the weight per square inch ratio, thus increasing wear and tear on the tank.
- Having 4 treads will also decrease traction, so sliding will occur more often.
- because (from the pictures) the hull of the tank is so close to the ground, the benefits of using 4 treads (ability for two of the treads to be at a different angle than the rest) will be none existant. Unless the entire hull will rotate as well as the treads, it will have roughly the same capabilities as a normal, two tread, tank.

All in all it is good, but I'd recommend looking at real tanks (if it's german, look at some of pictures of a Leopard 2 tank (Current German tank), and try to base the designs slightly off them (this mod is set in about 130 years, so even though Leopards will be horribly outdated by then, the design of the future German tank will most likely be able to slightly resemble the current).

Also, remember to keep in mind that on a tank, having vertical serfaces=bad. Angles provide much more protection. So on the treads and turret, perhaps angle it a bit :) And height is also your enemy...higher the tank is, more of a target it is. It doesn't look like your tank is too tall, but just in case you decide to make it taller (ala the Scorpian from Halo)...

Sorry for the long comment, but I'm rather interested in tanks, and I just want to make sure that this not only looks cool, but would actually be functional as a tank :) I'm not trying to make it look like your model is bad or anything...overall it is fairly good :)

We didn't want to create a realistic tank for our mod.
Since it's a Sci Fi Mod our Tanks should look like Sci Fi Vehicles.

It's right, that it may be a little bit to futuristic for 2138, but the tank should be something special.

It can keep roughly the same looks, just with some minor modifications to make it more believable. Who knows, maybe by doing some of the modifications, you can make the tank look even cooler :)
