Save planet Mobius from impending doom from the nefarious Ashura and Dr. Eggman and thwart the plans of the Brotherhood of Metallix. This mod is based on a darker perspective of the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. This isn't a shooter like UT2004, you will have to find objects to use, solve puzzles, and interact with a number of NPC characters to progress through the story. Experience Sonic Physics; run on walls, loops, corkscrews and on water!

Not bad. The controls are a bit unwieldy feeling but I actually managed to get to the end of the demo this time, so that's a bonus. And, as always, your animations could use some work. Put some bounce in Sonic's step! That's all I ask. Well, and give him a longer stride when running.

Overall, though, this isn't so bad! Keep up the good work.

I'm glad that you liked it.
About anims, don't repeat yourself in every comment I read from you; of course you're right but nobody wants to do them :(

Yup no one wants to do them cuz theres lots of other more important things to do. The animations will get done at a later date. After all, Sonic himself is still incomplete. =P

Thats why I belive on this Game! It will really show Sega some things about doing a game! Is hard to tell what was most exciting, the new beach map, the great 3D Sky Sanctuary, the 2D classic gameplay (man I loved that) or the Death Egg raise on the sky. Only left Knuckles there hehehe or a metal Sonic.

If you guys accept one sugestion, on the special stage some more clear and lighter gems would be nice cause the ones used are too dark and give a morbid aspect to the stage.

But wasnt that time I defeat Eggman =( He allways throw me away, if you guys put the Tornado on next patch hehehe (joking).

Congratz guys and keep it UP!

Obviously you've done something wrong, or you have the version off of Steam.

Make sure you have read the readme file and have first installed the 3369patch and the editors choice editon Pack for Unreal Tournament 2004, before placing the AshuraDarkReign files into the UT2004 folder.

For me it doesn't work:

I tried it on two different computers with linux, and the game starts.
but at the moment the player starts to run "very fast" it crashes.

Another test was made with windows XP. Here the mod doesn't even start, it simply crashes ut2004 then starting :(

Whats wrong with this?
Systems I used:

System1:
Athlon64-X2 5000
4GB RAM
Geforce 8600 GT
Ubuntu 8.04

System2:
Athlon64-X2 4200
4GB Ram
Geforce 7600GT
Ubuntu 8.04

System3(windows)
Athlon64-X2 4200
4GB Ram
Geforce 7600GT
Windows XP SP2

All those systems run lots of other UT2004 mods without problems, so whats wrong?

It shouldn't have any problem, specially on windows.
Do you meet exactly the game requirements?

"At the moment the player starts to run very fast"... it may be a problem related to motion blur visual effect, disable it in display settings in case you have it enabled.

If your problems persist, send me a private message with your log file (AshuraDarkReign.log).

I had problems running the mod in linux:
If you get errors in AshuraDarkReign.log like:

FOpenGLRenderInterface::SetGlobalColor ....

Here is the fix:
in file
~/.ut2004/AshuraDarkReign/system/AshuraDarkReign.ini
add/set :

[OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice]
UseRenderTargets=True

and now for some testing ... :)

Okay, I've just played the tech demo, and it's incredible. All I can say is that these two acts alone emulate the flow, dynamic and exploration Sonic was built upon in 3D stunningly. There are hidden objects and alternate routes and the ability to run on walls, ceilings and loops without Sonic Adventure-esque scripting is extremely well executed; especially the way some are made into miniature obstacle courses. The voice acting on Sonic was a bit meh, but I actually think Eggman's voice was brilliantly done. However, the controls were a bit iffy at times; it's hard to maneuver Sonic in ball form or even disengage from it, the homing attack was a bit short and hard to manipulate and simply turning around in the 2D sector was glitchy. But all in all, it was awesome, perhaps the best Sonic fangame I've ever seen, and I can't wait to see the end product.

Have you installed the 3369 patch and then the ECE (Editors Choice Edition) map pack before extracting the ashuradarkreign folder to the Ut2004 folder?

If that fails try updating your videographic drivers and directx. I have had the same problems in the past.
