Easter Update news - Arcadium mod for Half-Life 2

This is another media update for Arcadium, and you may have noticed a name change. Yes I changed the name from Gauntlet to Arcadium this was mainly to reduce the "OMG THIS IS NOTHING LIKE GAUNTLET" comments. That's because it is nothing like gauntlet (the old old arcade game).

Now onto the news, Arcadium has now officially moved over to the HL2 EP1 Engine, and it's a big relief that all the things that were in Beta 1.0 are still in Beta 2.0. Some new additions that will make the mod stand out from the crowd include some very exciting new entities created by out resident coder Zeeky. Basically the new entities will make the mapping process so much more quicker in order to get those pesky random events to happen. Take for example the weapon/pickup system, before the player would have to press "activate" in order to get the bonus now all you have to do is walk into the object. Also note that this entity has a lot of options for customisation, you can now select the weapon that will spawn along with the total amount of ammo it carries (including unlimited). This can also be set to a timer that kills the weapon (if you select unlimited).

Other new feats that I'll be talking about is the new control/aim and camera system. If you take a gander at the video below you will see that the camera now dose not spin around making you dizzy and stuff. And the new camera/aim system is another massive improvement considering how you can now aim where ever you want with the mouse and shoot in that direction, were as before you had to guess ;). The movements I feel is much much better, you can now move relative to the camera not to where your looking. So for example the "W" key now moves you north, "S" key moves you south etc etc.

Now lets talk release dates, considering how we have had some troubles with the port (yeah I know lame excuses Dave harden the hell up) the original date of the 29th of March might be a little too close to reach for Beta 2.0. But maybe in a few weeks you will see Beta 2.0 go gold, so hold on it will come and I promise it will rock :D.
