Reviews - Amnesia: Escape mod for Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Positives:

- Voice acting
- No flying naked guys or lame jokes
- You know basic scripting
- Not many glitches compared to many other stories made by new authors

Negatives:

- Very short
- Voice acting is very quiet
- Cliché and unintresting story
- Lack of music and ambient sounds/particles
- Glitches, a few floating objects, stuff that should be static are dynamic

Conclusion:

I agree with HumiliatoR, it's a bland and unintresting story.
The reason why I rate it 3/10 instead of lower is because I see a little potential in you. You didn't use lame flying nakes guy scares or made lame jokes only 7 year old kids think it is funny, and it was okay compared to what a lot of new mappers upload.

My suggestion to you is to both work longer on your next story, but also practise more before uploading a mod. It wasn't horrible for a first attempt, but it's bad compared to the average story.

3/10 - Bad

Well, I knew it is short but I think its not that bad. Assuming this is creator´s first mod I would give it 7 points.

Pros:
+ Not bad level of details and interesting map design for a beginner
+ Both monsters killed me! That means they were well placed.
+ It was quite enjoyable
+ Nothing stupid happens in the story

Cons:
- Placing of walls, some of them have holes, some of them are glitching.
- I could not hear most of the dialogues, that can be fixed in .snt files
- Just like the name, it lacks creativity in some places.
- Flying candle in the first room :)

I dont know if those are pros or cons:
- No jumpscares (no naked guys, the only thing that may jump - scare you are the explosions and monsters)
- No custom content (you dont have to make your own, you can use content created by other authors if you ask them and credit them) but its not necessary.
- Accurate amount of oil and items.

My advice to the author: I dont know how much time was spent on this but if it was 2 weeks or less that would mean immense talent and I recommend learning more mechanics and make more. This custom story is not great in any way but its a good base for further development.

Well that was short and really bland.

I didn't like it one bit, it was just lazy level designing, rushed scares with pitch black darkness areas, I was bored when playing it, just searching keys and some items to proceed door to door, nothing new.

Overall you can do better and don't ever rush with maps, it was so short and really bland and really poor designing with everything, even voices are so low to hear and there is no story.

- You can actually make something
- Voice acting

Neg:

- Bland design
- Rushed scares
- Nothing special, repetitive stuff
- Empty areas, really boring gameplay
- No story

Sorry, you have to use more time when making story or mod, this is just laziness at best.

Bad and Bland - 2/10

Well, the "Escape" custom story was very bland, very short and very generic, i have already reviewed the "Prisoned" custom story, which can be found on the "dark souls part 1" custom story.

Finished.

Story: ✕
Very cliche and extremely boring.
= 2/10.

Mapping: ✕
Extremely bland and no effort was put at it at all. I found total of two oil potions, yet everything was extremely dark everywhere. Was a pain in the a*s to explore the maps with no oil. = 1/10

Scare factor: ✕
Not scary the slightest. One jumpscare, and few buggy monster encounters. = 1/10

Atmosphere: ✕
Nonexisting. One part had music, but otherwise nothing. Bland. = 2/10

Puzzles: ✕
One puzzle, which was not a key guest (every single other "puzzle" was a boring key guest). Also, the placements for the keys made absolutely no sense at all. = 2/10

Creativity: ✕
Not creative at all. My little sister has more map making potential and she could make a lot more interesting story. = 1/10

Music: ✕
One part had music. That's it!

Overall: One of the worst mods I have played. Sorry.
