This custom story more so focuses on atmosphere and exploration than it does on horror. I'm making this with my friend in mind so there will be no monsters, however, there will be scares. As this is for the more casual/easily frightened player, you will never be in any danger, your goal is to uncover and understand the story.
This is my first time using the editor and making a custom story so any tips and such are greatly appreciated. Especially with scripting.
I plan for there to be 15-20 maps as I want this to be a longer story. Right now I'm currently working on the Castle maps. I'm gonna try and release a demo by mid August if all goes well.
I've realized I haven't made an update for a little while so I'll tell you all what's going on.
I ran into a couple of snags with the scripts and just over all life getting in the way of everything. I didn't want to release a demo with obvious glitches in it that I could fix with a little more time. I also decided to go back and polish up the first few maps because they kinda look awful compared to the last few I've done.
For now I'll give you a little run down on what to expect from the demo. There will be 11 of the 20 maps for you to explore. There may be more added to the final product, however. The basics of the maps are complete, but decorations and things like that are bound to change as I polish things up and develop the story more. All of the scripting is basically in alpha, therefore is open to suggestion and change. Scripting is actually the most difficult part of this for me because I've never worked with scripts before. It's slowing the project down a bit because it's a constant learning process full of trial and error. I think I'll leave the scripts alone until after I've released the demo so I can see what sort of feedback I get, though. I have ideas for what I want to do in the maps without events, but it's setting the demo release back. So for now I'll continue to polish up the first few maps that were lacking the detail I wanted and once that's finished I'll be able to release the demo for you all.
Again, I want to apologize for the setbacks, I know people were expecting the demo last week and I'm sorry I wasn't able to inform you all on the situation sooner. It shouldn't take me more than a few days to do the polishing and final run through for any major glitches if all goes smoothly. I'll need to learn to set my dates differently in case I run into any issues like this time.
