We are pleased to bring you another update on the new mod, Ace Combat: Distant Thunder. Today we'll show a little bit more of the grittier side of conflict: the ground war.
Bases in Distant Thunder will be quite built up when you start the game. You will have access to an airfield, radar, a helipad, an a command center. You will be able to order units using supply points, which can be gained by proving your worth through destroying enemy units and capturing areas of the map, such as towns, industrial facilities, or even abandoned military installations. Once ordered, a transport aircraft will bring the units you have ordered to your base via the airfield.
One such unit at your disposal as an ISAF commander is the M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank (MBT). The mainstay of the ISAF armored brigades, the M1A2 proved to be a first-rate MBT during the ISAF evacuation to North Point. With a 120mm smoothbore cannon the Abrams was instrumental in holding back Erusian advances. A notable engagement took place during the ISAF defense of Rigley Airbase. Although the base eventually fell to the Erusians, the kill death ratio for M1A2's operating in the area was well above 2:1.
Here you can see the survivors of the northern Erusian campaign. ISAF forces are pulling out from the north under the radar darkness provided by Mobius squadron's attack on the Shezna radar facilities.
More to come...
