Absence is a Wolfenstein 3D TC with a new and dark storyline that includes a lot of new features that you've never seen before in a Wolfenstein 3D TC, like an experience system to upgrade yourself!
Absence plays in a US underground lab called "Sigma Complex". This lab complex is primarily specializing in genetic and robotic experiments. Something terrible happened a year after the start of the project and the government decided to send you, an elite soldier, into the complex, with the mission to find the last known documents about Professor Tom Baker's experiments and to destroy the complex, with the second objective to eliminate all failed lab experiments, and to see if anyone, or anything, has survived...

I've received a lot of emails from people asking where to find the yellow keycard on level 1 and how to destroy the cyborg Protoss on level 5. Personally I don't think that these things are too hard to find out. Be that as it may, I've created and uploaded two walkthroughs for people who may have troubles to accomplish these things. You can find the video walkthroughs on YouTube. Here are the links to the videos:
Note: There won't be any other walkthroughs from me, so please don't wait for any new ones and don't ask me to do any other!
Today I've finished the SDL version of Absence! This version is a native Win32 port and so doesn't need any emulators. It's also Windows Vista compatible...
It's been a while since the last update, but we weren't lazy in our absence - haha, got it? ;)
This is the full version of Absence. I hope you enjoy it! This version is a native Win32 port and so doesn't need any emulators. It's also Windows Vista...
This is the full version of Absence. I hope you enjoy it! Version 1.2 includes the following fixes: - Fixed some exploits - Fixed a bug on map 17
I finished it, it was good but it's far from being perfect. Mostly a lot of the rooms (bathrooms, offices) look ALL the same... the secrets are not interesting (just some weird caves), and some of the levels are confusing.
If this mod wasn't so repetitive, I would have gave it 10/10. Unfortunately now I can only give it 8/10. Such a pity... Still a great work though.
Note to everyone: The native Win32 port is the SDL version and can be found here: Moddb.com
Wow this is an awesome old-school mod.
Glad to see your project is doing well :]
I just completed the mod and liked the two endings. Everything else is also done well: there are many new features added into the game. These are textured floors and ceilings, lighting, increased interactivity and an experience system to name but a few. The graphics and sounds are good, too -- some of them were taken from other games but there is also new content. The levels are also well-designed, even though sometimes I got lost. Still, they weren't too difficult. Also the balance, such as the enemies and weapon and item placements etc., is nice. Even the story is very good and an essential part of the mod -- It's explained in the data discs and intermission screens. I think Absence is one of the best Wolfenstein 3D TCs ever.
looks like an amazing mod for an amazingly old game ;)
great work, i wish i could play it...
You can play it with VDMSound (if you've Windows 2000 or XP) or with DOSBox (if you've Windows Vista).
Probably Wolfenstein 3D is the oldest modded game ever. Good mod.
Ah, now I got it: Yes, the weapons moving to the right or left (dependent on the weapon) when you attack with them.
no no no i mean the way that weapons in wolf3d are based in the centre, will you be leaving them in the centre, or will they be moved to the right instead of the centre (like in modern games). notice how the weapons point to the left, modern games move the sprite to the right of the screen so it looks like its shooting into the centre of the screen instead of the far left.
