The North would have died a death? Again you underestimate the North. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it a bolton himself who said "Never in the history of the seven kingdoms, did the Lannisters send their army this far north. If you think they will for you, you are a fool. If the lords of the North rise against us we would be defeated".
I doubt North would disappear if the wildlings crossed the Wall. But I'm sure they would continue much further south. And when the winter comes... I doubt little bolton sickophants will be able to frighten the white walkers by skinning them alive.

I think sadistic basterds have no right talking about honor, courage, strength and calling themselves the wardens of the NORTH.
