The Free-Folk and Followers of Sauron fight over Middle Earth, but the minor factions are too weak to deploy military forces to change the fate of Middle Earth, they will act as buffer zones on the map similar to rebel factions from Total War.
If you have any questions about factions mentioned or not, comment down below!
I will also go over our "release plan", basically which factions we want to release in which order. It is still subject to change. Also, assets for factions completed may be included in early releases. For example, the Easterlings may be available in Mordor as mercenaries before their faction and region becomes playable.
Also included in the releases will be the campaigns previously mentioned depending on the factions, scenes and characters in the release.
Red = Cities Green = Castles Blue = Villages
Factions: Gondor(East), Rohan, Mordor and Isengard
Factions: Gondor(East), Umbar, Harad, and Dunland
Factions: Lothlorien, Dol Guldur, Orcs of the Misty Mountains and Beornings
Factions: Gundabad, Woodland Realm, Dúrin's folk, Rhûn and Kingdom of Dale
Factions: Elves of Imladris, Elves of Lindon, Dwarves of Ered Luin, Breeland, The Shire, Dúnedain of the North and Angmar
In regards to neutral factions, their inclusion isn't as defined and will be done when and where possible.
Thanks again to Niclaitheking for putting this stuff together(albeit a fair time back!).
Nuce! Great to get a timeline! Really looking forward to this and i love your including so many factions! Makes for a more imersive experience. Question for you that you may not ve able to answer yet, how you intend to spilt up characters between allied kingdoms? For example, the witch ling would be angmar or mordor, prince of dol amirth is gondor or different neutral faction?
Sorry for the typos - new phone keyboard is tricky
Thanks! Well we will try to have the characters in the same location they would be according to lore and time(T.A. 3016). So the Witch King will be a general of Mordor and Imrahil will be the lord of Belfalas in Gondor.
Yes, I bet the most tricky one would be Gandalf, but he will follow the fellowship, so hopefully it won't be a problem :P
*begins research of 3016* ok cool. Hopefully rhun doesnt decide to retake isenguard early on like in 3rd age tw

Awesome
Thank you for the timeline, it already looks amazing. Can't wait till the mod (and bannerlord of course...) are live!
Hot hot hot very well put together John!
Probably a silly question, but you dont intend to make Dol Amroth an independent faction right? Maybe starting the game as a vassal of gondor or somthing like that..
Anyway great job looking forward for both bannerlord and this mod!
Cheers
Dol Amroth and Gondor will be one.
You can start as a Gondorian Captain with the ability to gain titles and land.
Thanks!
Cair Andros is ripe for the taking
Should be the easiest castle to gain via influence
but thats cause not many else want it.
If you guys ever expand to the red mountains you guys should make teo dwarf factions one good and one evil, and also are you guys going to add khand?
I don't think we will go that far east, but if we do that is a possibility.
"6. Khand" ;)
Going that far east already gives me a headache :P It would force us to make up a lot of locations and armours :/
In third release, there is no image of Gondor (east)?
Whoops :P

You see that i can help, not always bother with questions :P
Indeed haha.
great work!
this mod is what I wished from years ago. continue your nice job.
I have a suggestion; Can you change ravenhill from a village to castle? because as I remember, it was a place for guarding erebor, not for living and habitation.
btw I like your job very much and will follow it to see the further progress of it.
Don't take the castle/ village so literary. There will be 'villages' with walls etc. It's just a simple way to state the wealth and significance of the location. Ravenhill will be easier/ better to defend than the average village from Warband, so no worries ;)
glad to hear this; thanks for reply.
I wish you success.
Will Erech function as a normal castle? It was completely abandoned during the Third Age.
That is the current plan yeah, other possibilities would be a visitable location not owned by a faction.
Yeah Erech itself might be a location or a minor part of the map/ scene. The actual castle is called Morthondost. Here is a small map of the area: Vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net
Do we have permission to follow the path of the Fellowship? For example, can we go to Mines of Moria with one of the Fellowship members and have fight there? There will be campaign?
Edit: And waiting this project so much. Have a good luck with it. :)
There will be a custom campaign where you can play the events that take place in the films and books.
There will also be a fellowship quest in the actually campaign you can choose to take part it.
That would be really nice, thanks for your interest. :)

This is so incredibly exciting!
Great update. Good luck with work.
Rhûn's expanse northward will be extremely fun ;p Really well done faction locations, feels much like TA's map. Keep on exciting us for this mod :D And good luck with this project
My hype to expand as Rhun is ridiculously high, hopefully they will be the most fleshed out in this mod than any other too!
I guess that's up to me and you ;)
Indeed it is ;)
What about the woodland realm? no image.
Ahh yes, here it is: Trello-attachments.s3.amazonaws.com
Thanks allot. p.s This mod looks great keep up the good work I'm almost more excited for this than bannerlord!!
Would love to see Dwarves from the Orocarni mountains...
The Orocarni mountains are extremely far away, so they will most likely never be added as a faction, but their troops might be mercenaries you can hire.
However I've tried to persuade the team to add the Dwarves of Nurunkhizdín, which are dwarves from the Rhûn mountains perhaps even further down the line we can add The dwarves of Ered Harmal (mountains east of Khand).
But Orocarni will most likely never be on the map due to the lack of information and because it's extremely far away from Middle-Earth.
How will you create the map?
We don't know yet. There may be some sort of tool made by TW to do this or we may have to make a model or height map for it.
(does contain questions)I am so excited for this mod and all that it plans to have! I can't wait to create one character to help the fellowship and another one to destroy them! Thank you all for putting your time and effort into this. Now, I know that you guys are going for a very authentic and lore friendly experience so I am wondering how Dol Guldur is going to work? Dol Guldur and the dark forces there were not talked about a lot in the movies and only a little more in the books (from what I hear) so I am wondering, mainly, about the leadership. You see, I have always been a fan of the Ring wraiths and my favourite among them is Khamul. I know Khamul, along with three other Nazgul, were stationed in Dol Guldur before the war kicked off and I am have to ask if he will be represented in a unique way at all? I know in the movies he looked just as any other Ring Wraith,(with the exception The Hobbit) but I was wondering if you were at least giving him his name.
I had always imagined Khamul as the leader of Dol Guldur, as they are really a branch off of Mordor they would have a loyal/powerful servant command the North. As you said, he will have a few Nazgul serve under him as well. Depending on how involved we make the lords during the quests we may make him leave his position to deal with other matters, like searching for the ring. If he has nothing else to do he will be stationed in Dol Guldur.
He will of course have his name, I think all the Nazgul will(albeit non-canon) just to remove 7 characters all being called the same thing. Since he is a faction leader he will probably get some special gear to set him apart from those under him.
Thank you guys so much! I want to serve under Khamul so bad XD. anyway, I forgot to ask another question because I was hyped for my lord's appearance. Do you guys plan to have the same amount of restrictions there was in the mod "The Last Days of the Third Age" in terms of allegiances or will my good character be able to be a little evil dwarve should I choose to be so unorthodox?
No problem :)
There won't be as much restrictions as TLD. I'd like the player to play however they want but in a realistic way. They will have to do some sort of action(not sure what) to come onto friendly terms with evil factions. In result the good factions will hate you and there will be obstacles to pass to be able to recruit troops from those factions.
Looking really interesting!!
Questions:
- Framsburg is not in the map... I think it could be a curious village/camp, but I understand the absence :( Lotr.wikia.com
- Khand is surrounded by allies. However, a Total War mod has made a different interpretation: "your homeland is possibly further away from any battle lines than anyone else, unless of course you choose to stab your allies in the back..." The minecraft mod is doing something similar in Harad, making various tribes within the Far Haradrim, not all allied with Mordor. As far as I'm aware, warband had no solid/durable aliances between factions, and perhaps a less rigid system could benefit some factions, making the east more interesting...
- Regarding balance. In the lotr mod for M&M, the game is very strongly biased for orcs winning the war, especially in the south. I understand this is canonical, but it breaks the experience for orcish players...
Keep up the great work!!
Sorry for the late response, I don't check these articles often.
Framsburgs lack of inclusion is probably because the Eotheod are long gone at this point.
I don't think we will have Khand betray their allies. It is not lore friendly and otherwise has no reason to change.
We have considered having Haradrim tribes starting the game separated and later a tribe would reunite them and attack Gondor with more force.
I can't make many claims on balance at the moment, but I can say that we will try to make interesting and challenging campaigns, regardless of the player's nation.
Actually Framsburg is on the Vales of Anduin map :P
Your mod is a Masterpiece, with very good designs and good faction, armor and swords. It will be a very silly question, but in the Logathavuld faction that it was about in the mod?
"The Free-Folk and Followers of Sauron we fight over Middle Earth, but the minor factions are too weak to deploy military forces to change the fate of Middle Earth, they will act as buffer zones on the map similar to rebel factions from Total War."
Can this be changed over time as the game goes on? Or do they just remain weak forever?
