The Soviet Union and United States of America fight bitterly for command of the tiny sector of space they have carved out for themselves, losing lives by the hundred to gain but a single mile on a single planet out of dozens. Yet even as the two nations threaten each other with conquest, an even greater threat looms, ready to exterminate them both. The Sh'we'pel, a powerful race almost as ancient as the cosmos themselves, stand ready to enslave mankind for genetic experiments, using them as nothing but expendable supersoldiers against their alien enemies.
