Imagine a world where the Allies didn't win the war, nor did the Axis. Instead, the war just continued on and on in an unsteady stalemate. Welcome, to the world of 1949. In this world Germany decided not to bomb London, but instead continued its attacks on Britain's airfields. Then, the Russians lost at Kursk. Finally, D-Day fails. With these victories, Germany has managed to halt the Allie's progress. In the Western Theatre, the Allies and the Axis each plan the invasion of the other's vital territories. In the Pacific, Japan and the United States are dueling over tiny islands with giant fleets and atomic weapons. Now, the stalemate is about to be broken. Germany is preparing an all out invasion of Britain. As tough and valiant as the Allied troops defending the Sceptered Isle are, some of their leaders are beginning to that they will be unable to hold against the Wehrmacht.

A glimpse of some new units in 1949, including one of the new civilian units that will be available in the campaign.

Wow it's been a while since the last news update hasn't it? Well, lets not waste any time reminiscing and just get right down to the action, shall we?

The battles of 1949 won't always be confined to open fields or deserted towns. No one wants to see their home town fall to an enemy. Therefore, these individuals decide to act in support of the Army. One of the most easily mobilized and well-armed non-military forces is the police force. Therefore, Police Squads are going to be available in the campaign, while also being usable as an optional multiplayer reward unit so that you can simulate battles on American (and British, once their civilian units are being cranked out) soil. If they are activated, they will be available from forward HQs. At any rate, here are some pictures of those who protect and serve:

The Police

The Police

The policemen you see here were designed using the Chicago police, as well as other police forces as references in order to create a sort of generic police uniform. I didn't want them to be readily identifiable, so that they can be used to simulate any police department, whether it be the New York department, or Dirtville PD. That said, a similar approach was taken with the next unit, Polizei.

German Polizei (Police, in English) participated in combat engagements during the desperate years towards the end of World War II, though there were also police units that actively fought on the front much earlier than that. However, most Polizei units only followed the advance of the army and kept watch over occupied areas. Therefore, pacifying regions is what Polizei do best.

Polizei are a Panzer Elite unit that will be available from the Auxiliary Command building. In essence, it is their job to completely cap sectors or enemy forward HQs while the main forces of the Army contend with bigger threats, try to follow an enemy retreat, or move to secure sectors that are even farther out. Don't think that this means that Polizei can't fight, which is hardly the truth. They may not be the best, but they can defend themselves. Their equipment tends to be rather older than that of other units, but that is about the only deficiency one could find in them. In terms of game balance, their special ability is capturing, rather than throwing grenades or firing panzerfausts etc. Anyway, here are some pictures of them for you to enjoy.

Well, that's all for now, except for a brief report on balance testing. That report is that tests are going very well, with the staff making many good suggestions for game balance. So far, several errors have been found and liquidated, but most of the testers seem to be very pleased with how the mod plays as of right now. Sorry about the wait for all of this. However, I am happy to report that I will have more updates coming for your enjoyment, so just hold tight. More Civies and the Soviets are right around the corner!

With Regards,

The last time I checked on this, you were up to the Maus only. God, have you advanced! Oh, and I love the police idea! The American police should be able to upgrade to the 1923 "Tommy Gun" just for the look of it. xD

I have a modeler who is on vacation, and I myself am learning how to model at the moment. I've been working hard at getting models out for your viewing, but I'm not the only one who's doing work. There are other team members who are hard at work, and while I wait for them to finish, I do what I know how to do in order to improve the mod. Either way, there will probably be many more infantry types than vehicles types, partially because I want infantry to be more flexible, and to play a larger part in battles.

German police forces actually did get involved in some battles during World War II. Whole divisions of fighting policemen existed during the war.
