I had no problem at all with BFHD with 128 bots and other mods. Also no crashes with Project Reality.

Installed this on top of the new standalone from 26 Dec.
No difference.
Only map that works with/without the DI system removed is Daqing Oilfields. It works for around 15 seconds then crashes no error even with windowed mode.

Other maps just instantly crashes when pressing DONE.

Tried it as you said and also removed hud scripts folder, and the game still crashes, unfortunately.

Yeah, I also configured it to use BFHD archives instead of the normal bf2.

I tested with BFHD and core files only and everything worked fine. But when I copy Damocles hud files from the standalone build and set the path for the .con files, it happens exactly the same, crashes. Remove it again and it'll be fine.

That's because your hdd or whatever you use is FAT32 and not ExFat or NTFS that can save single files larger than 4 gb.

Don't run the game from BF2.exe.
Use the provided launch.bat in HeatOfBattle\Battlefield 2\mods\Heat_Of_Battle
