Seeing as there was a whole game based around him, it would be a safe bet.

I've not discussed it with the team, so I'm not yet 100% what we'll do with Wesker. I'm actually thinking that he could be a sort of early unit with about the same strength as Leon, but then can be upgraded late in the game to have all his superpowers and such.

Note, however, that this idea is just a turd thrown at a window and is in no way final.

We don't have a final idea for a campaign yet, and I'm not sure it we'll have linear, meta-map, or both. Here's some juicy copypasta from our forums, where I wrote my idea:

"Since the meta map is supposedly impossibly easy to mod, we could have a meta-campaign for me to work on when the rest of the code is done - it takes a lot less time to code for a building/unit/ability than to model and animate it.

The layout I'm thinking of is (the entire world will be North America):

US starts with most of modern day America, except the Illuminados have the places bordering Mexico and Mexico itself. Umbrella could have Canada.

There would be a few 1 strength US islands about so Umbrella and the Illuminados could reach each other, although on limited avenues. The US would start with the most territory since it's pretty much surrounded, and Umbrella with the least, although they would be near the weaker central northern US territories. The center of the US would be a weak point - with strong territories around Cali and NY, and the US army would start in NY. The US will start with 10 territories.

The Canada territories will be few (maybe like 5 huge ones making up all of Canada), and the Umbrella army starting near Ontario.

The Illuminados would be about 7 territories, 3 being Mexico, one Cuba, and the other two South Cali + Arizona and the other being Texas. Their army will start in Texas."

Be sure to go to our forum at takeforum.com/dow2re4 and post some things in our Ideas section.

Leon is in, currently. Other commanders are still undecided - although the Illuminados have the El Gigante, which, even though you can only have one, it technically isn't a commander.

Leon starts with a Blacktail, but can be upgraded to have any of the following: Riot Gun, Semi-Auto Rifle, or Broken Butterfly. All the weapon stats are taken from RE4 - every point of damage in RE4 is converted to 10 points of DOW damage. The reload time and capacity don't come into play (DOW isn't like that), but the firing rate is the RE4 one.

The stats are based on fully upgraded RE4 weapons, except for the Broken Butterfly, which is about half upgraded (for balance reasons).

I don't really know when it'll be out. We just started not too long ago and are accepting new team members, so the makeup of the team will probably change a lot during production (which will make it be out faster).

And, for no reason, I just feel like telling about one feature we have currently for the US: your builder only builds field defenses like Listening Posts and Minefields, and you have Blackhawk Helicopters airdrop all your base-type buildings (or, in more boring terms, you deepstrike buildings from your HQ). Because of the Blackhawk being so awesome (and technical limitations as well), the US can airdrop buildings anywhere in the game world.

10% is sort of an average. I'd say the "race code" is about 50% ("race code" not including "game code" like AI), models are about 5% and animation hasn't been started. We also haven't started any 2d graphics besides loading screens yet (things like unit icons, etc). Sounds aren't started either, but we have a short bit of music that would be nice for a loading theme.

But it definitely is playable, although we've not yet started on Umbrella. If you have some talent you can contribute, whether it be modeling or voicework, be sure to try out. The team is pretty small and we'd take just about anyone that wants to do something besides simply downloading the mod and spreading it around the Internet.

Even though we can't do a release, I might do a gameplay video sometime.

The thing is, it is pretty playable right now, and our balancer does a really good of things.

I think we could have released a playable alpha only about a month after the mod started - but Games Workshop prohibits the use of Warhammer 40k stuff in combination with un-40k things.

So, we can't exactly release legally until:

A: We get all our models done.
B: We find some generic public domain models and use them as placeholders.

I really want to get a release out, so the second if definitely more likely.

Yes, we'll be having Umbrella as a playable race; they will have zombie units.

At the time of writing for this comment, the Illuminados and US are playable. I imagine Umbrella will be started soon.

That's one fat HQ. The bottom building is the genestealer hive I believe? And I take it the skull probe is the Will of The Hive.

Although I haven't yet talked about it with the rest of the team, I'm thinking we could do a STARS squad wih randomly generated models for each character, since it would be too much for the US to have upwards of 5 commanders. Alternatively, we could have a structure that lets you build one or two of the heroes - but I myself have only played RE4, so I'll need some help from the community when it comes to their weapons and stats (hint to all whop are reading: post some good ones and you'll get contributor status if you keep helping out).

HUNK is planned as an Umbrella unit, but, again, I've not yet started on Umbrella. Also, I'm currently away on vacation and won't get anything done in the two and a half weeks I'm still here, though I can still post here.

But don't worry, I brought RE4 and will be playing it with my second cousin for... umm... inspiration. Yeah.
