Whoa, Whoa, Whoa! Death Note: Source is far from dead. I'm sorry for the lack of updating. The Death Note: Source Development Team has been rather busy the last few weeks, which is the reason why we haven't updated. We are still hard at work, and still plan on making this great mod. Believe me when I say I will never let Death Note: Source die, not after how far we've come.

You can expect another update shortly, introducing new content!

I thought I would just clear up some of the confusion here.

1) We are developing this mod with the maximum amount of people possible. (Either 32 or 64)

2) We will not be creating a Kira team, per se, but once at least 16 people join the game, a second Kira will be chosen. We are still trying to find out how exactly each Kira will be able to identify the other, but we were thinking of a sort-of glow effect, that would be visible through walls. Similar to Left 4 Dead's infected vision.

3) We are creating the THREE law enforcement teams are going to differ in these regards. Each team will have a different possible loadout set, all driven by chance. (FBI will have certain possible firearms, while the SAT will a completely different set of possible firearms) As of yet, we will not have any restrictions on the use of these firearms, other than all weapons will have one clip loaded, and one clip in reserve, calling for ammo conservation. In addition to this, if you kill an innocent, you will be immediately sent to spectator, so this will prevent people from shooting randomly.

4) Members of a team will only be able to communicate with one another, but not with any members of any other teams. In addition to this, when Kira is disguised as a specific team, he will only be able to hear conversation among his team.

I am sorry for not updating for quite some time. We have been very busy.

Recently, the Death Note: Source Development Team has been working on creating the code and models for many of the weapons that will be used in the game. In addition to this, we have continued work on Death Note: Source's main map, L's building.

Yes, Kira is chosen randomly from three teams. The American FBI, the Japanese Detectives, and the SAT (Japanese Special Assault Team).

In order for Kira to win, he has to kill all of the law enforcement officers from all three teams. In order for the law enforcement officers to win, they need to find and kill Kira. However, if they kill an innocent person, they will be jailed (sent to spectator) until the next round.

No, Kira is only a human being. He will only be as strong as everyone else.

It is the main weapon of Death Note: Source, everything is centered around it. However, we have to give the law enforcement some weapons, now don't we? The Glock 19 will be one of the main weapons that will be given to the law enforcement officers in Death Note: Source.

No, it is not.

Unfortunately, we are hitting snags in the LUA Coding of the GameMode.

On the other hand, we are getting a new coder, possibly more, to help with this problem.

I know it is taking quite some time, but we are also busy with our real lives, as well as our virtual ones. We are actually very close to having the first version of the GameMode done and ready for testing by a private group.

It may be implemented later, but for the first release, we will not include the option to increase your chances of being Kira, but I will keep it in mind for a later release.

As for a second Kira, I think the game might become a bit crazy if we implement that, but once again, I will keep it in mind.

Presently, I have been more concerned with developing the rest of the fine details and getting additional team members. In fact, I've acquired a few yesterday. If we can get a LUA GameMode Coder to join the team, we can really get started. If any of you know any LUA GameMode Coders, please let me know.

By the way, you don't need to call me Mr. Switchback. You can call me Switchback, Switch, Switchy, or maybe even... KAMI!

Actually, no one will be able to see each other's names. Every time you spawn, you spawn with a random character model. It is still undetermined if the player will be assigned a name such as "John Smith," despite the fact that their username is actually "Shadow9425." However, it HAS been decided that obituaries (killicons or deaths in the top corner) will not be displayed.

As for how Kira will actually kill people. He will need to obtain the names of players by finding them in various locations around maps. I can't reveal by what means, but I can tell you that much. After he has obtained a name, it will become available for a kill target in the Death Note. After that, it's as simple as writing the name. In 40 seconds, the person will die from the specified cause of death.

Also, if you like the Mod, register on the forums! We need to expand the community.

Did you read the description?

I explained what the GameMode and Mod will be about. It will be about players being randomly selected to be on one of two teams, and out of those two teams, one person is randomly selected to be Kira. As the players try to escape the area, Kira has to secretly kill off each of them, in stealth.

You have to remember, Kira is not a god, he is only human, meaning he can die just as fast as anyone else if he is found.

Actually, in the beginning, you will be required to have Garry's Mod to play, but if the people who do get a change to play it, or if the community wants a stand-alone mod bad enough. We will probably make it into a Half-Life 2 Modification.
