I'm having the exact same issue.

Having issues playing it in fullscreen mode.

I'm launching it via GenLauncher, game works fine in windowed mode but it's cutting the control panel rendering it near impossible to select choices.

I get a pop up asking me to update directx but the directx I have installed is updated to the latest software.

Please help...

Can't play the game at all.

I'm using the steam version of ZH, installed the mod via GenLauncher.

Open game, select skirmish & unable to do anything. The map loads up all black except I can see my base but unable to do anything.

Was able to highlight the builder unit through click & drag but wasn't able to place anything down.

Also unable to play the game in fullscreen mode, has to be windowed, any1 able to help?
