Before, I just copied the face bones from the example file, and moved the bones around to fit my model, without considering scale and orientations. Hopefully custom rig will sort that out. Still need to do some cleanup for bone names and double check for helpers embedded in bone chains (udk don't like that), It's probably overdone, I could probably reduce the number of muscles and tweak other to compensate, we'll see how it works in practice.

edit: anyone using this tutorial, make sure you set upnodes on LookAt constraints to something else than World, otherwise you'll get awful deformations when character is looking anywhere but straight ahead.
