ok i dont hav homeworld yet but i will then ill download the exe installer then what is that it or do i need to ownload something else, and how will i fix the files that hav that 'bug' or whatever

i'm going to buy Homeworld 2 but i'm so confused i'm not really a computer guy but i play alot of XBOX but i'm a huge Battlestar Galactica fan and really want this but i don't know what exactly to download or what can u guys help me?!
