That is basically the same method, just requires a bit of imagination, but I can try to make a simple one :)
Also, unless you do a bit of a code-side mod to make it place both parts upon placing the block, you will have to manually place the different parts.

The first thing I said when I saw this image was HOLY S***. Then I imagined it moving, and how large the hanger for this would have to be.
I personally think this would be cool, imagine a ship meant to look like this, with an outer shell of worn plates and stuff, and a fully functional interior with 'lotsa' guns :3
262346 people tried to climb the space stairs, only to realize that there is no top.
I still have the airlock because I wonder what will happen if the main pump inside breaks down, and the only way to fix it would be to cut through the armor.
I am considering making it a door in a hard-to-reach spot, and replacing the airlock with some kind of pipeline or perhaps the main engineering terminal.
Either way, eventually I am going to redesign this station with all the knowledge I've gained building this one, so thanks for the tip :)
Also, as a point of reference, this would probably be an extremely weak cannon, though it would have a decent lasting time per shot.(Assuming of course that you charged it for a while)
I just re-read this, and came to a realization. Your fast ship would not work.
You are in space. If you deploy a mine from a ship traveling fast, that mine will be traveling only slightly slower than you. Even if you have some kind of launcher, you would have to be able to launch with a force equivalent to the inverse of your current velocity. Now, it may fail at making a mine field, but it would be out right godly for a long range bombing run. Just gotta make sure to pull out of the way, and hope they don't intercept the mines quick enough :D
One thing is for certain, you do NOT want this to get damaged. If it gets added along with the same functionality I've been trying to balance with a vague idea of the current weapon balances, let's just say you won't really have a ship, but more of a crater of slag ;)
Also, imagine specialized mine-sweeper ships :D
Sweet, I'll upload them, they come with a folded up variant, that has two variants of it's own I can't decide on, though leaning towards the more collapsed one myself.
Also, anyone who thinks mines would be pointless, once players start convoys and whatnot, creating standard shipping lanes that get patrolled by guards or some form of patrol group, imagine the chaos should a few thousand of these be scattered about.
Now, another cool thing, what if you had a secret base, and wanted to ensure that should you be discovered, you'd have time to abandon/defend it? Make a large field of mines around, ensure all ships that should be there receive a special signal to cause the mines to deactivate, then just wait for any poor captains who should stumble upon that which they should not know of :3
And one last idea, rather than use these as sabotage weapons, fly a ship straight at a station or something, release tons of these behind (so they acquire your momentum), then pull out of the way ^_^

The AST-01, often called the Astral, or more commonly referred to as the space turtle by it's crew, was created to act as a mobile factory. It's work surface is pure steel plate, with much of the rest of the ship being double thick tungsten.
The work surface of the AST-01 is typically flat after production, with needed systems and infrastructure added as needed. It's power room uses several tokamak reactors to produce the massive power needed for ship construction and powering the engines.
The bridge is located at the front of the ship, slightly below the work area. Generally the crew of the AST-01 do not actually stay aboard for long, having several work ships for storing tools, materials, and personnel that fly in formation with it.
In combat, while unarmed, the AST-01 is able to take a bit of punishment, as most areas of the ship are two meters thick solid tungsten, with some places reaching 4 meters thick.
Access to the ship is achieved along the bottom, with an access shaft in the rear and front. These both have access to the power and fuel bays, while the front also has access to the bridge. The AST-01 also has multiple connectors on it's sides, they are meant to allow other AST-class vessels to dock with it, for maintenance or fabrication of larger ships.
Epsilon Labs is currently exploring alternative designs that would be stationary, but able to connect on all sides, as well as have on-board storage for materials and crew, as well as an experimental heavy engine mount to allow for far higher acceleration.
This looks like a cool fighter, and I also think some kind of RCS block would work well for fighters and what not.
Those would be Tokamak reactors, basically current-tech mini fusion reactors.

Well, when thinking of a prototype reactor, one thinks wires; while in truth this uses special space-age sparkle magic to actually transmit the power directly into the ship's energy storage, we thought throwing random wires would appeal more to the public eye.
Well, the official label is WazuTek, however we are considering a merger with TOENet Industries, so it may change in the future. And of course it won't show up on those, I totally did not upload this to said torrent hypersites myself!
Ah yes, this is a prototype of the new fission core developed by our company. Here's hoping it will be ready for mass production soon!
As a player of this game, I have to say that this game is the best fps I have ever played. It is also very easy to mod :D
The low poly arms look good, you are pretty close to AC 4's graphics. I'm not sure about AC 5's quality, but you may beat 4 at least.
