You can go over by the town of the free folk, towards the Giant's hideout, there is a cave with wildlings in it that have captured night's watch soldiers, you can attack the cave and kill them, if you kill them all one of them will give you obsidian arrows and an obsidian dagger, the Valyrian Steel weapons can be obtained in two ways legitimately, either get 600 renown and purchase them from the weaponsmith in the city of Qohor, or if you capture a lord that has a Valyrian Steel weapon, you can kill them or send them to wall to take the black and you will get their armor and weapon. (except their boots and sometimes gauntlets this has varied for me.) Alternatively if you don't care about legitimacy then you can use Morgh's M&B Editor to make the weapons purchaseable from a store, by untagging them as unique and setting them to merchandise, changing the abundance and price is preferred to make them easier to find.

An easy way to get around this glitch, is to call your Bannermen, or if you aren't marshal or lord of your own faction, to just order your men to attack without you, very bad I understand but, it's the only way I've found until he can patch this, if you use your bannermen or have high relations with a lord, you can ask them to attack the castle, and then just reinforce them with your own troops ordering them to attack without you, granted if you really want to take the castle it's an easy way to never lose if you just join in the battle when you take it over, you can use cheat engine to boost your number of troops to take it then, place them back where they were or with fair losses, and then no one can attack you and win :D
