Never mind. After studying the FAQ more then the readme that came with the download, the problem was that I had Core on the top..
When I switched it to the bottom (Factions above it), it loaded just fine and played it for a while.

I installed the mod to the folder as per instructions said and copy pasted the EnabledMods.txt
However, the game crashes on loading to main menu when I try to enable any other factions.
Is there a fix for this?

My game is a Steam copy of the Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion with the latest patch.
