Blitz Max is a great programming environment to use. It supports Windows xp-8 (non-metro), Linux, Macintosh and with it's near code compatible counterpart Monkey allows a programmer to reach mobile devices based on Android and IOS.

I am currently using it to build Phoenix USC. :D I have been using it for years and found it to be very capable and just great for one man operations such as myself. The support is also wonderful on the BRL website with many coders willing to answer questions and offer advice.
